Last night, international rock band Muse performed at Madison Square Garden as part of their new worldwide tour in support of the mega-successful THE 2ND LAW album and lead singer Matthew Bellamy made a special dedication to those lost in the tragic events of the Boston Marathon live onstage during the set.

Proclaiming, "This is for Boston!" Bellamy then launched into a spirited and roof-raising electric guitar-centric iteration of "The Star-Spangled Banner" ala classic rock icon Jimi Hendrix.

Ensuant, the crowd joined in applauding the unexpected and incredibly powerful dedication.

The Brit rockers certainly made many more allies in the US with that thoughtful and respectful ode to those lost in the catastrophe and proved that music has the power to express the unexpressable, particularly in trying times such as these.
