A roster of talented guest conductors will lead The LOS' Happy Concerts and Lolli-Pops™ series. Highlights include: Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland; New York Times best-selling author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds in a new production, The Magical Musical Pencil; iconic National Book Award-winner, rock musician and poet Patti Smith narrating her childhood favorite, Tubby the Tuba; and the New York premiere of Disney Fantasia Live in Concert, combining the animation from the 1940 and 2000 films with live orchestral performance.

Take a trip to Toyland for the holidays with this modern production of Victor Herbert's extravaganza. An array of beloved characters performs March of the Toys, Toyland and other favorite tunes.

This timeless classic by George Kleinsinger was a childhood favorite of guest narrator, Patti Smith, and her enthusiasm for it will bring a new perspective to this whimsical and touching piece of music. Hear Tubby the Tuba's melody ring throughout the orchestra and learn how melodies and soloists can come from the most unexpected places. Other works on the program include selections from Tan Dun's Concerto for String Orchestra and Pipa, Haydn's Cello Concerto in C Major, and Morton Gould's Tap Dance Concerto. Ms. Smith is a National Book Award-winning author, rock musician, photographer and poet.
