BroadwayWorld has just learned that Sucker Love productions will bring FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS to the stage in 2016. The LA-based company announced that Scott Porter, who played Jason Street in the TV series, will lead the cast as Coach Taylor. THE UNAUTHORIZED FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS MUSICAL will feature original songs.

Additional casting has not yet been announced.

Sucker Love Productions is a TV, Film, and Theater production company formed by television writers, Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin. Together, they created Cruel Intentions: The Musical, a musical adaption of Roger Kumble's cult classic that took Los Angeles by storm from April - July 2015.

Friday Night Lights, which ran for five seasons on NBC, is about a high school football team in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas. It was developed by Peter Berg and executive produced by Brian Grazer, David Nevins, Sarah Aubrey, and Jason Katims, based on the 1990 nonfiction book and 2004 film of the same name. The series' primary setting, Dillon, is a small, close-knit community in rural Texas. Particular focus is given to team coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and his family, Tami, Julie, and Grace. The show uses this small town backdrop to address many issues facing contemporary American culture, including family values, school funding, racism, drugs, abortion, and lack of economic opportunities.
