Courtney Reed Joins Broadway Cast of MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL as Satine

Moulin Rouge! The Musical will welcome Courtney Reed this summer! Reed returns to Broadway in the role of Satine, having originated the role in the First National Tour. She will begin performances on Tuesday, August 1 at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Additional casting will be announced soon. 

As previously announced, Joanna “JoJo” Levesque and Derek Klena will play their final performance as Satine and Christian, respectively, on Sunday, July 30. Tickets are now on sale through February 25, 2024.

Courtney Reed joins the Broadway company directly from the Moulin Rouge! The Musical First National Tour, where she originated the role of Satine. She is best known for originating the role of Princess Jasmine in the Broadway company of Disney’s Aladdin, for which she received a Grammy nomination. She was last seen in Lauren Yee’s award-winning play Cambodian Rock Band at Signature Theatre. She made her Broadway debut in Mamma Mia! and also had the honor of being a part of the closing company of In the Heights as Carla. Her TV credits include “Liza on Demand,” “Search Party,” “The Affair,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “White Collar,” “NYC 22,” “CSI: NY.”

Moulin Rouge! The Musical opened to critical acclaim at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in the Summer of 2019 and reopened in September 2021 following the shutdown of Broadway due to the pandemic.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is directed by Tony Award® winner Alex Timbers and with a book by Tony Award® winner John Logan, choreography by Tony Award® winner Sonya Tayeh and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Tony Award® winner Justin Levine.
