The cast of the off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz will perform at Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland (315 West 44th Street) on Monday, June 20th at 10pm. The Christian boy band (along with one nice Jewish boy) will be accompanied by the composers (Gary Adler and
Michael Patrick Walker); in addition, "each cast member might also favor Cast Party
revelers with an impromptu song of his own choosing, in the tradition
of the weekly event where performers entertain each other at the piano!
Piper-Heidsieck champagne will be the beverage on ice for the boys,
if they choose to imbibe in the devil's brew," states a press release.Altar Boyz is directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by
Christopher Gattelli, with a book by Kevin Del Aguila, and is based on a
concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport. In addition
to its numerous Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, and Drama League
nominations, Altar Boyz recently won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle
Award for Best New Musical (Off-Broadway). The show currently runs at Dodger Stages, where it opened on March 1, 2005.
