A Race to the End of the Earth Revisited. Relive the triumph and tragedy of the thrilling race between Norwegian Roald Amundsen and British Royal Navy Captain Robert Falcon Scott. The evening will begin with dramatic readings from the explorers' journals by Wabash College Theater actors, who will bring to life the teams' 1,800-mile journeys to the South Pole and back with each side battling extreme weather conditions, starvation, and frostbite while pushing the limits of human endurance.

After the readings, a panel featuring modern-day polar adventurers and an Antarctic scientist will discuss the historic race and share unique insights on how it helped shape Antarctic exploration and science today. The panel will include Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen, who captivated millions when they became the first women to ski across Antarctica in 2001, and Felicity Aston, who earned her Master's degree in Applied Meteorology and spent two and a half continuous years in the Antarctic, living and working at Rothera Research Station monitoring ozone depletion and climate on the Antarctic Peninsula.
