Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone are arguably some of Broadway's biggest names and both amazing performers in their own right.  Put them together and you have what is guaranteed to be an amazing night full of laughter and amazing music.  And that's just what you can get this week at Detroit's Fisher Theatre.  Starting Tuesday April 14th, the stars bring their two person Broadway show titled An Evening with Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone to Detroit.

Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone have not been on stage together since their Tony Award winning performances in Evita back in 1980.  The context of the show is being kept fairly secretive, as Mr. Patinkin believes in surprising an audience and therefore will not give the set-list away before the show.  However, it is guaranteed to be an evening full of popular Broadway songs as well as some lesser known tunes, all put together with a distinct purpose.  The focus will likely be on works by Richard Rodgers and Stephen Sondheim, but there will be plenty of surprises thrown in. With choreography by Ann Reinking who won a Tony for her work on the Chicago Revival, one can expect to see some suprises in more than just the vocal performances.

Mandy Patinkin might perhaps best be known for his work in film and television, first as Inigo Montoya, the lovable swordsman with a grudge, in the Princess Bride and then later as Dr. Geoffrey Geiger on the popular CBS series Chicago Hope and then as Jason Gideon on the show Criminal Minds.  It's his on-stage work though that has really ingratiated him into the hearts of so many theatre goers.  His award winning turn as Che in Evita was the start of a fantastic career, which has included amazing turns in shows like Sunday in the Park with George, The Secret Garden and Falsettos.  He has also done many one-man shows along with his pianist, Paul Ford, who also does the accompaniment on An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin.

Patti LuPone just wrapped an amazing run in Broadway's Gypsy where she headlined the show and received rave reviews.  Perhaps best known for her Tony Award winning turn as the title role in Evita, Ms. LuPone has had an illustrious career.  Other stage highlights include Pay Joey, Sunset Boulevard and Sweeney Todd.  She was also the first American actress to receive an Olivier Award for her role in Les Miserables in 1985.

Don't miss this chance to see two Broadway legends performing together.  For more information, visit the Nederlander Detroit website.  Tickets range from $31.50 to $66.50 and can be purchased online here or by calling Ticketmaster at 800-982-2787
