Bold, spiteful, and hilarious-Prairie Fire, Please is proud to present Madeleine Says Sorry. Failed actor, Madeleine, loses her big break to a wiener dog-so she attempts to drown it. Now she must apologize not only to the dog, but to all of society.

Madeleine Says Sorry is a dark comedy about the monsters created by performative activism and political correctness.

This world premiere satirizes our apologetic Canadian culture. It invites audiences to question how our morals are constructed. Audiences need to see this show to consider the harm we can cause by blindly adopting opinions. We must examine the inequities within our own activism and allyship. In a time that screams for revolution, we need to force less, and listen more.

After a successful 2016 Toronto Fringe (Rowing, Filament Incubator; Silk Bath, Silk Bath Collective), as well as the critically-acclaimed Swan, Aaron Jan returns to direct at the TPM Backspace. Madeleine Brown (Assistant Director of Midsummer [a play with songs], Tarragon; Nightwood Theatre Young Innovator), plays the title role, and is the genius behind this ugly scene. And don't forget Anthony Perpuse (Factory Theatre Mechanicals), who puts the two in two-hander. Jake Runeckles (Asylum, Knots, Theatre by the Bay Indie Producer) is producing this round, and Logan Raju Cracknell (Deceitful Among All Things, Storefront Theatre; Sex Tape Project, Fu-GEN) has taken on both lighting design and stage management for this stellar team.

In this brutal comedy, Madeleine battles with Tony over the process of crafting a genuine apology, as well as over popcorn, David Suzuki and the "white woman's burden"-while dreams, morals and cardboard-based inventions are crushed.
