Amicus Productions Brings SCOTLAND ROAD to Papermill Theatre, Now thru 2/1

In the last decade of the twentieth century, a beautiful young woman in nineteenth century clothing is found floating on an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic. When rescued, she says only one word: "Titanic'. The mystery quickly picks up on the coast of Maine, where an expert on the fateful voyage of RMS Titanic has arranged to interrogate the young woman. His intentions are to get to the bottom of her story, have her admit she's a fake and discover her true identity. However, his seemingly simple questions quickly give way to unbelievable consequences.

As interpreted by lifelong Titanic enthusiast and prolific theatre director Victoria Shepherd, "Scotland Yard" presents a superb cast aided by a beautifully realized set designed by Alexis Chubb in order to ensnare the audience with the writer's rich combination of emotion, factual circumstance and sly humour. This powerful production is enriched by a haunting score composed by John Stuart Campbell and lighting designed by Jamie Sample. What is fact? What is fiction? All answers will be revealed once the curtain falls, but be prepared for an emotional journey along the way.

"The Titanic - a symbol of arrogance, glamour and tragedy - has captured the imagination and passion of generations," declares Ms. Shepherd. "Scotland Road tells the story of a passion so powerful that it transcends time and logic, completing a journey that was started over one hundred years ago."

Ms. Shepherd has directed numerous theatrical productions, the most recent being "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" and "Moonlight and Magnolias" for Amicus, as well as "Queen Milli of Galt" and "Real Estate" for the Village Players.

The play features West McDonald as John, Anne McDougall as Halbrech, Laura Vincent as The Woman and Paulette St-Amour as Frances Kittle. The play is produced by Naomi Priddle Hunter, Stage Managed by Steve Minnie, with costumes designed by Emily Haig.

"Scotland Road" is an incredible ride that contains elaborate hoaxes and conspiracies, fraud, perversion of memory and the greatest ocean liner ever built. In fact, if you listen carefully, a voice can be heard. Over the waves and deep in the sea...

Amicus is on its 35th year of entertaining audiences and providing their members with the opportunity to share in the process of creating theatre. Volunteers are always welcome.
