PORGY AND BESS National Tour to Run 3/25-30 at The Ordway
The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts announced today that The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, will perform March 25-30, 2014 at the Ordway.
Based on DuBose Heyward's novel "Porgy" and the play of the same name, which he co-wrote with his wife Dorothy Heyward, the Broadway revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess is a stunning and stirring new staging with a magnificent 23-piece orchestra, including such legendary songs as "Summertime," "It Ain't Necessarily So," and "I Got Plenty of Nothing."
"This Tony Award-winning Broadway revival was created specifically for new musical theater audiences. The creative team, selected by the Gershwin and Heyward Estates, are among the best in the business and they've succeeded on all counts!" said James A. Rocco, vice president of programming for the Ordway. "This is a powerful story told with trailblazing music, worth seeing again and again."
