Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Everyone will love this charming, upbeat musical adaptation of a literary classic. Mary Lennox is sent to live in England after her parents die in India. Misselthwaite Manor turns out to be a gloomy fortress. Her uncle is rarely home and his young son, Colin, never leaves his room, convinced heís an incurable invalid. Mary discovers a strange walled garden that has been locked up for years. With the gardenerís apprentice, Dickon, a lad who can talk to the animals, Mary coaxes the garden back to life. The garden seems to have a wonderful, magical effect on all who come into it, allowing Mary to help restore Colin to health and a reunion with his father.

The contestants will be competing in a 10 week elimination style contest for a $1000 cash prize and paid bookings at RISE Bar with their respective solo show. In addition to its cash and prize package, RISING STAR is offering networking opportunities with guest celebrity judges, fantastic exposure and valuable live stage experience. Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian, John Frost and the Really Useful Group today announced that the world's favourite musical, The Sound of Music, will come to Perth later this year, completing a highly successful national tour. The lavish London Palladium production will play at the Crown Theatre, Perth from 14 September for a strictly limited season. Following sell out seasons at Sydney's Capitol Theatre and Brisbane's Lyric Theatre, The Sound of Music will open at Melbourne's Regent Theatre on 13 May and play at the Festival Theatre in Adelaide from 9 August, before it heads to Perth. Starting in June 2016, the season will include three musicals with 10 Tony awards combined: The Secret Garden (Previewing June 10 and opening June 11 at 8pm) and, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, and A CHORUS LINE. The shows will be held at the newly renovated John & Nancy Hughes Theatre in downtown Lake Forest. The long-term vision for Lake Forest Theatre is to build a brand new venue.
