City of Angels, featuring book by Larry Gelbart (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, M*A*S*H), music by Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity, Barnum) and lyrics by David Zippel (The Goodbye Girl, Disney's Mulan) with direction by Christopher Pazdernik and music direction by Aaron Benham. City of Angels is presented for two-nights-only tonight, March 3 and Wednesday, March 4 at 8:00 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's Sondheim on Sondheim (February 6 - March 15) on nights when there are no performances at Stage 773, 1225 W. Carman first appeared in New York in Songs For A New World and recently garnered acclaim for her portrayal of Diana in Next To Normal at The Gallery Players. This evening of musical theater and pop songs will also feature stage and screen star Anita Gillette (Chapter Two, Cabaret, Moonstruck, 30 Rock) and the talents of Noah Ricketts (Beautiful:The Carol King Musical) and Samantha Cutler (Billy Elliot: The Musical). Las Vegas' Smith Center for the Performing Arts is an extraordinary place. It's diverse programs encompass just about all of the performing arts. The building, designed by David M. Schwartz is a Neo Art Deco design and features a 47-bell carillon housed in a 17-story carillon tower. The design, Schwartz said at the opening, was chosen to echo the design elements of Hoover Dam, located 30 miles away. It is the first performing arts center in the United States to be Gold LEED certified. After three years of planning and construction, it opened on March 10, 2012. (more...)

WICKED's second national tour, 'The Munchkinland Tour,' flew into the Fox Theatre on Wednesday, February 18 to play a 3-week engagement, marking the show's fourth engagement at the historic Atlanta venue. Raymond Benson, best known as the official author of the James Bond novels from 1996 to 2002, received the prestigious 2015 Lovey Award: Best Suspense Novel of 2014 for The Black Stiletto: Secrets & Lies. The novel is the fourth title in the popular Black Stiletto series which chronicles the adventures of the masked vigilante. While Benson does not give his Black Stiletto heroine 'super' powers, she is expertly trained in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and possesses heightened senses. The author expertly moves between past and present, covering 1958 through 1962 referencing the heroine's diaries, to today, where Judy Talbot née Cooper AKA The Black Stiletto, diagnosed with Alzheimer's, resides in a nursing facility. Her son, Martin has stumbled upon the five diaries, and learns of his mother's past.
