Fathom Events, in association with Arts Alliance and Seventh Art Productions, is bringing five of the world's most acclaimed art exhibitions to select U.S. cinemas with “EXHIBITION ON SCREEN,” kicking off on January 13, 2015. The first film, “Matisse from MoMA and Tate Modern,” is based on the critically acclaimed exhibition Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs, now on view at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. These premiere cinema events, featuring Matisse, Van Gogh, Rembrandt and many more, will take audiences on a virtual guided tour of the exhibitions, and offer an opportunity to explore centuries of art history through high definition filmmaking. Screening in more than 300 movie theatres around the country, each film will allow audiences to experience exclusive interviews with art experts and historical figures, rare glimpses behind the scenes at the world's top museums and compelling biographical details, all without museum crowds or the expenses of traveling. The Kennedy Center presents The Illusionists - Witness the Impossible in the Kennedy Center Opera House from January 6-11, 2015. Direct from Broadway, the production comes to the Kennedy Center as part of a 30-city U.S. tour. Produced by Simon Painter, Tim Lawson, and MagicSpace Entertainment, the production is conceived by Simon Painter. The show's creative team also includes executive producer Tim Lawson, director Neil Dorward, and creative director Jim Millan. The Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University is pleased to announce an important exhibition, Chuck Close: Face Forward – from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation, which will be on view January 17 through April 5, 2015. There will be a public opening reception on Saturday, January 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Collector Jordan Schnitzer will present a special lecture in the museum, discussing his long involvement with the artist's work, during the opening reception on Saturday, January 17, 6:30-7 p.m. (more...)

This year, Ron Lytle released the original studio cast recording to his musical THE MAN WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS: A NEW OLD-FASHIONED MUSICAL. Like the made for TV CBS film, the World War I set musical is based on the true story of A.C. Gilbert. However, Ron Lytle tells the heartwarming holiday story with splashy old-fashioned Broadway tunes. The mirthful spirit of the production is captured on the recording, which left me curious to see the musical staged. (more...)
