BWW Interview: Choreographer Jennifer Paulson-Lee Talks YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN
by Bob Rizzo - May 23, 2016

It's only a few moments before choreographer Jennifer Paulson- Lee will watch her cast give the press a 'sneak peek' of their rehearsals. They're preparing to perform three musical numbers from 'You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown' which will be presented at The York Theatre beginning this week for a limited engagement. What's unique about this revival is the fact that a pint-sized cast of 9 to 13 year olds is performing all the roles. But don't let their ages fool you. This young bunch of talented thespians has a list of professional credits that any seasoned 35-year-old performer would envy. As the press files into the theatre, Paulson-Lee is busy making last minute corrections on her young charges. She is gentle and soft-spoken yet gets her point across to these eager children who take her notes and make the adjustments On the Spot. The mutual love and admiration between this gang of peanuts and their dance master is all too evident. (more...)

BWW Review: Theatre Project Welcomes Back Happenstance With BROUHAHA
by Cybele Pomeroy - May 10, 2016

The performers of Happenstance Theater engage, intrigue, cavort, emote and display both physical precision and a remarkable range of organically produced sound effects. BROUHAHA's story, insofar as there is a story, lies in the development of the relationship between this cadre of classical clowns and the newcomers- that is to say, us, the audience. We become conspirators in the greatest of comi-tragic secrets: even in the direst of times, there is yet opportunity for playfulness and joy. (more...)

Jason Kravits to Bring OFF THE TOP Back to The Duplex
by BWW News Desk - Mar 10, 2016

An entire cabaret made up On the Spot. Who does that? Actor-writer-musical improviser Jason Kravits - perhaps you've seen him on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Madam Secretary - pulls off this neat trick time after time in his hilarious and unpredictable cabaret improv, OFF the TOP, scheduled to return to The Duplex in NYC on April 11th at 7pm. In his musical high-wire act, Jason, assisted by a fearless and agile band, spontaneously creates a character, a life story and an entire evening of original songs, all based on audience suggestions. Showstoppers, character songs, trifles, segues, backstories - Jason makes it all up in real time, off the top of his nimble and slightly demented brain, to the amazement of his audience. (more...)
