Kevin Cain Releases New Novel 'Tammy Baby'
by BWW News Desk - Oct 13, 2016

With the Halloween season upon us, fans of supernatural stories just might be interested in reading 'Tammy Baby,' the new novel from Alabama author and paranormal investigator Kevin Cain. The novel is based on, what the author claims, is a real haunted doll named Tammy, just one of the many haunted items that can be found in Cain's home museum. The novel mainly centers around three sisters, Agatha, Tabitha and Samantha, who have shared a dark secret from their childhood. Ten years ago, their six year old stepsister Tammy drowned in the bath tub from a prank gone horribly wrong. Though it was ruled an accident, the three girls, now grown women, know it was much more than that. They should have confessed, but they vowed with each other never to tell a living soul what really happened that fateful night. Now, the lovely doll that Tammy once cherished has mysteriously appeared in each of their homes. And a nightmare of unspeakable revenge will soon befall them one by one. Has Tammy's spirit returned to exact vengeance? Was this a true story? According to Kevin, 'the actual doll itself, and the spirit of Tammy who haunts it, is quite real and sits in his home. The doll originally came from St. Louis where the real Tammy lived until she died at the age of six back in the early 1970's. While it is true that Tammy was a real child who was really tragically drowned by her stepsisters in a prank gone wrong, the present day portion of the story involving the grown-up sisters is a fictional account but still just as chilling as the doll itself. The real Tammy actually owned the doll. A present from her step-father, she cherished it and carried it wherever she went. After her death, mysterious things often occurred around the doll like the sound of a small girl's voice being heard where no child was anywhere around. Objects moved on their own. The doll itself even changed positions on its own when no one was around. It passed through the hands of a few frightened owners until it was rescued by a fellow paranormal researcher who passed it on to me for safe-keeping.' 'Since I obtained the doll,' he says, 'the spirit has made herself known in his house. He has heard the little girl playing in his own bathroom, opening and shutting the cabinet doors in there and turning the water faucets on and off. He even left a voice recorder in the bathroom that capture the voice of a little girl talking. She has proved to be a very pleasant spirit with no harmful intentions. She just still loves her doll and has decided to stick around it in death.' It is no wonder that Tammy's story and spirit inspired Cain to write his latest novel 'Tammy Baby' which he even dedicated to her. 'Tammy Baby' is now available in paperback and on Kindle. (more...)

South Beach Triathlon Participant to Use State-of-the-Art Technology While Raising Funds for St. Jude's Children's Hospital
by BWW News Desk - Jan 25, 2016

When competing in a triathlon to help children who are sick, any available advantage is welcome. For the athlete on crutches who came in dead last at last year's New York City Marathon, even more welcome. Thomas G. Abraham, an emeritus board member of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, following in his father's footsteps who was an original founding member of the hospital, has organized a team of 18 athletes competing in the South Beach Triathlon on Sunday April 19th. Abraham and his team, who have raised thousands in sponsorship money for the iAM St. Jude Heroes Team, has a secret weapon that he hopes will not only assist with his performance, but should also attract attention. Thanks to the great support of the Recon Instruments team, Abraham will be one of the first athletes ever to participate in the South Beach Triathlon with the new Recon Industries Recon Jet Smart Eye wear Heads-Up Display for Sports. 'When was the last time you could reach out to a Founder of a company and ask for support and get an immediate response?,' asked Abraham. 'Thanks to Dan Eisenhardt the Recon CEO/Co-founder, the iAM St. Jude Hero Team will feature the technology at this year's race.' The technology-laden eyewear is packed with apps that monitor performance statistics, vital signs, course maps and more. Setting itself apart from other monitoring devices, the Recon Jet actually casts digital images in the users eyesight in real time, improving performance as well as safety. 'When running, or biking at high rates of speed, it becomes a safety issue if I were to take my eyes off the road, even for a second,' said Abraham. 'By using this new technology, I'm hoping to get a performance advantage, but this race is not about a win, more importantly, I hope the Recon Jet Heads-Up Display Sports Glasses will bring attention to our team raising money for St. Jude's, the Leading Catastrophic Children's Research Center In The World as well as send a loud and clear message that age has nothing to do with how one can participate and or contribute to making a difference.' Thomas has served on the Board of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for over 25 years. About Recon Jet: Recon's Jet smart eyewear platform, originally designed for sports, is a stand-alone wearable computer with computing power equivalent to most smartphones on the market today. It includes a 1 Ghz dual core microprocessor, 9-axis sensor suite, on board HD camera with BT, BTLE, ANT+ and Wi-Fi communication protocols, all built into Recon's highly ruggedized hardware platform. About St. Jude Children's Research Hospital St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands treats and cures childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. Treatments developed at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to increase the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent in the next decade. St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food-because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Abraham Foundation, they believed that when it comes to enhancing the quality of life, every person's efforts matter. BWW Review: Finding the True Meaning of Christmas with MIRACLE ON 34th STREET at Garden Theatre
by Kimberly Moy - Dec 14, 2015

I am a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas time. I'm that person who hasn't seen any holiday classic movies. I decorate enough to blend into society and usually only listen to Christmas music on rotation at your favorite theme park. So it takes a lot to warm the coldness of my heart and while Garden Theatre's MIRACLE ON 34th STREET did not turn me into a nostalgic mess, it did allow me to appreciate the meaning of the holidays. BWW Review: YERMA, Young Vic, 4 August 2016
by Marianka Swain - Aug 5, 2016

Australian theatre's 'enfant terrible' Simon Stone, whose 2014 version of Ibsen's The Wild Duck at the Barbican memorably starred a live duck, has returned to take on Lorca's 1934 'tragic poem'. If some of the elemental lyricism has been lost in this updating, which trades rural Spain for contemporary London, it's a small price to pay for a raw, searing work that builds to a shattering climax.
