Back in 2008, when I moved from my small New York City apartment to my 3 bedroom house on a half-acre in Norwalk, CT, I was both 'excited AND scared', to quote Little Red from Into the Woods. I was excited for the change, for the possibilities, and for the extra space, yet scared for the unknown, the new responsibilities, and the financial undertaking. I'm sure 'excited AND scared' sums up the feelings held by Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling when faced with their latest venture - moving Music Theatre of Connecticut from its quaint and cozy home in the basement of a Westport strip mall to the spacious and state-of-the-art surroundings at the Company's new location at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk, CT. However, 'excited' might be the dominant emotion. (more...)

The characters' search for a happy ending depends entirely on the wily servant Truffaldino, who is constantly on the lookout for a decent meal. Three-time Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello wowed 'em in a one-night only performance presented by FUDGE Theatre Company Founding Artistic Director Joey DeMita, in association with Matt Phillipps. With her virtuoso piano accompanist/Music Director Phil Reno, the versatile artist stormed through a set list of eleven o'clock numbers from Broadway musicals. It was an unusual way for her to spend her night off from FINDING NEVERLAND at the A.R.T., but the appreciative audience at the Arsenal Center for the Arts didn't seem to mind. (more...)

Actors/singers David Burnham and Valerie Perri were critically acclaimed costars of Musical Theatre West's (MTW) Sunset Boulevard last season, but they have never sung together in cabaret until now. Together Again For the First Time premiered at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal on Sunday September 21, and with the opening number 'It's a Grand Night for Broadway' to the strains of 'Its a Grand Night for Singing', no finer words could appraise the evening. Accompanied on the piano and at various points in song by superior musical director Mark Vogel the trio knocked it out of the park. (more...)

So when he proposes to join forces with Sonia it is clear from the start that these two are going to make a comedically disastrous pairing. A score by Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager and jokes by Neil Simon, THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG is a passe musical about the real-life relationship of Hamlisch and Sager. Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. This will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre October 7 - November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006.
