CTC Extends SHREK Through 6/15

Overwhelming early popularity and a Twin Cities All-Star cast has led to strong ticket sales for Shrek the Musical, prompting a one-week extension to the run. Shrek the Musical is based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. Roger Rees to Return to The Old Globe for WHAT YOU WILL, 4/28; Artistic Director Barry Edelstein to Lead THINKING SHAKESPEARE LIVE!, 5/3

The Old Globe today announced it will present two Shakespeare-themed events. On Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Tony Award winner Roger Rees will return to the Globe for a one-night-only engagement of What You Will, his hysterical (and somewhat historical) 90-minute gallop through the world of Shakespeare. On Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 a.m., Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will offer an encore of Thinking Shakespeare Live!, his 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare. This fast-paced, funny, and altogether fascinating program based on Edelstein's book, Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard, reveals a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard. Producers Letty Aronson and Julian Schlossberg today announced a General Rush policy for preview performances of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY. For each preview, a limited number of orchestra Rush tickets will be available each morning when the box office opens at 10 AM. YMCA Strong Kids Campaign Continues Success with Kelli Gautreau

YMCA's across Canada are reaping the benefits of their 2013 'Strong Kids' campaign. According to the YMCA website, over 58,000 donors donated $11.4 million across the country. One of the key contributors to this campaign is critically acclaimed dancer/choreographer Kelli Gautreau, who collaborated with the YMCA to create an original music video, in which sponsors donated money for ever view. The music video ran for a 90-day limited engagement on YouTube reaching over 20 countries and 1,116,604 million views. The children cast for the project were hired to dance in the video as well as sing. A new recording of the song,'Strong Kids,' is set to hit iTunes early spring of 2014. (more...)
