The production begins performances on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 and will open on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). Cartier Williams is a hoofer, choreographer, filmmaker and performer hailing from Washington, D.C. He began his tap dancing career at the age of four and has been active in the tap dance community ever since. Throughout his career, Cartier has had the opportunity to dance with a multitude of tap pioneers and masters, including Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Peg Leg Bates and the Nicholas Brothers. He has appeared on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' 'The Tonight Show,' 'Good Morning America' and CNN. Cartier has performed for President Clinton, co-starring with Bebe Neuwirth in the PBS special 'In Performance at The White House.' He also performed for President George W. Bush at the 2006 Congressional Picnic at the White House. Cartier is currently continuing to develop multiple musical productions and workshops. (more...)

Erin Craig and La Vie Productions just presented a benefit staged reading of the Newtown docudrama 26 Pebbles, a stirring new play that explores a community in transition after a tragedy, by Eric Ulloa and directed by Igor Goldin. The cast featured Broadway veterans Karen Mason,Richard Masur, Mike McGowan, Mamie Parris, and Jennifer Swiderski at the one-night only event hosted by the Culture Project at The Lynn Redgrave Theater (45 Bleecker Street) last night, December 15th, in commemoration of the second anniversary of the tragedy at Sandy Hook. Proceeds from the event will benefit a collection of charities chosen by the citizens of the City of Newtown, whose voices and testimonies are evocatively presented-verbatim-in 26 Pebbles. (more...)

The recording captures the spirit of classical musicals as the score abounds with the whimsy of Rodgers + Hammerstein and Lerner and Loewe. Pacific Symphony and Festival Ballet Theatre (FBT) entice audiences of all ages with the sweet melodies, magical celebration and excitement of one of Tchaikovsky's most famous ballets during the holiday concert, 'Nutcracker for Kids,' part of Family Musical Mornings presented by Farmers and Merchants Bank. Led by Assistant Conductor Alejandro Gutierrez, the orchestra shares the stage with the enchanted ballerinas from FBT, led by Artistic Director Salwa Rizkalla, who bring this beloved Christmas tale of the prince and Clara to life. The classic battle between the Mouse King and the Nutcracker has children on the edge of their seats as Tchaikovsky's memorable music, performed live, fills the air with wonder. Then the dancers twirl and glide across the stage to the renowned 'Waltz of the Flowers' and the enchanting 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.' Created especially for children ages 5-11, this 45-minute version of the ballet is adapted by Bree Burgess Rosen, and features narrator Charlotte Rubino, age 11, making it perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
