ENSEMBLE THEATRE celebrates a new location and a return to in person programming with its 43rd 2022/2023 Season! All performances will take place in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Notre Dame College in South Euclid. 

DakhaBrakha returns to ArtPark July 14th for a reception, fundraising concert, and talkback. Originating from the Ukrainian experimental theatre group, Dakh, under the artistic direction of Vladislav Troitsky, the band of four friends has played worldwide in a mission to spread and celebrate Ukrainian culture.

Writing in such a picturesque setting helped Luce focus her attention on the world around her—quite literally in the case of the EP's first song, 'Matter of Time.' The summer before Luce landed on Orcas Island, the northwest suffered two brutal heat waves, and the extreme weather killed dozens. Plus, check out upcoming tour dates!

Filmed by Jason Lee Denton and Aliegh Shields, the video finds Luce performing her song amongst a very similar habitat to that which inspired it, bathed in the shadows of fronds and vines. Fans can watch the video for “Matter of Time,” check out previously-released singles “Cosmic Flower,” “Yellow Dawn,” and “Vow.'

 Like the rest of Lydia Luce’s upcoming EP, Garden Songs, “Vow” is framed by lush, organic tones, breathtaking string arrangements, and soothing, otherworldly melodies. But “Vow,” by nature, is closer to her heart—a meditation on what it meant to decide to spend the rest of her life with her partner. As with the rest of Garden Songs, “Vow” was written at an artist retreat on Orcas Island, a tiny destination of some 57 square miles off the coast of Washington state known for vistas of water, forest, rocks, beaches, and blue skies—all of which are reflected flawlessly in the music. It was the first writing Luce had done since her 2021 album, Dark River.

'Aunt Susan and Her Tennessee Waltz' by Toby Armour will be presented by Theater for the New City (TNC) April 28 to May 15.  The play dramatizes the leadership of Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Chapman Catt and Juno Frankie Pearce in the struggle to win the women's right to vote.

Internationally renowned jazz vocalist Tatiana Eva-Marie and legendary jazz pianist Terry Waldo have joined musical forces to create their debut collaboration album, I Double Dare You. In addition to her role at TheatreWorks, Sardelli is enjoying quite a remarkable career as a director at theaters across the U.S., and has built a track record of developing close working relationships with notable playwrights such as Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph and Olivier Award winner Matthew Lopez. Talking to Sardelli, ita??s clear why she is so constantly in demand. She is naturally engaging, inherently upbeat without being saccharine, and passionate about expanding the possibilities of theater. Her excitement about the chance to work closely with TheatreWorksa?? new Artistic Director Tim Bond to tackle new challenges is palpable.
