Set in 1977, Yer Granny is a comedy about a 100-year-old granny who is eating her family into poverty. The Russos were never wealthy to begin with but they worked hard for what they had and unfortunately they gradually lost everything due to Nana's eating habits!

The play opens with Marie warning Aunt Angela to keep an eye on Nana to ensure she doesn't eat the dinner intended for the entire family. Naturally she does, followed by pretty much anything else in the house that isn't nailed down! The family are forced to come up with drastic measures to ensure their own survival.

The cast was absolutely outstanding and I would struggle to single out any one performance. Gregor Fisher was sidesplittingly funny in the role of Nana. Everything from his facial expressions to his general stance had the audience howling with laughter. It is such a great cast and each actor brought something really special to the performance.

Yer Granny is hilarious from start to finish. The script is very well written and there are several quotable phrases which I intend to annoy my friends and family with for weeks! The references are fairly regional but I'm sure they will translate all over the country. I found Yer Granny to be really unpredictable and very different from anything else I've seen onstage recently - I loved it!

Yer Granny is on tour around Scotland.
