Donna Christie and More Set for SARTA Winter Workshops and Classes

The Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance has announced upcoming workshops and classes for winter 2012. The offerings include a playwriting workshop, a vocal class and a character class.

Beginning January 30, The Thistle Dew Playwright Workshop will meet every other Monday evening at 7:00pm at 1901 P Street in midtown Sacramento.

They will be reading monologues and plays by Timothy Cahill, Eugene Griffith, Thomas M. Kelly and others in preparation for their future weekend production of Monologues and Two Character Five Minute Plays and future productions of one act and full-length plays.

Nakamoto Productions will also present to classes, the first is the return of "VO OPEN MIC NIGHT."

Students will have the chance to step up behind the mic in a commercial recording studio, read their choice of scripts, and be directed by a Pro VO talent!

* Read a script from: Movie Trailers/TV Promos, Retail commercials, Automotive, Audio Books, Narrations, Documentaries, Image, Phone Prompts, Animation, Character Voicings, Dialogs.... Or bring your own :30 script.
* Meet peer VO talent if all levels and exchange contact info.
* Be professionally recorded and directed!
* Listen to other voice talent read.
* Have your VO questions answered.
* Watch the recording process from Weston House's commercial control room.

VO OPEN MIC NIGHT will take place Thursday January 26th from 7-9pm, and sign in begins at 6:45pm. It will take place at Weston House Recording, 955 Venture Ct., Sacramento, Ca. 95825 and will cost $5.00 at the door.

The Donna Christie Animation VO Workshop

Fans of the Heathcliff cartoon series from the '80's have heard Donna Christie's voice as the character Iggy, the owner of Healthcliff the Cat, voiced by the late, Great, Mel Blanc of Looney Tunes fame.

Donna and Mel Blanc produced over 140 Heathcliff cartoons together, including a full length feature film! Donna also starred in the POPPLES cartoons of the eighties.

Students will learn:

* How to develop animated characters
* How to do dialects and accents
* How to develop your catch phrase
* How to sustain your character
* Establishing signature character trademarks
* Projection levels-Pitch Control-Pacing
* Marketing your animated characters

This workshop is only $85 per attendee and will take place on Saturday, January 28th from 10am-1pm at the Weston House Recording, 955 Venture Ct., Sacramento, Ca. 95825.
