Review: ROMEO AND JULIET, Sadler's Wells
UK / West End: Vikki Jane Vile on May 30, 2024 Leeds based Northern Ballet always pack a punch when they visit London every May, and this time was no different, with Massimo Moricone’s slick and captivating Romeo and Juliet. This year’s touring production held extra poignancy, with the costumes and set requiring full restoration and repair from a devastating warehouse flood in 2015.
Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at The Phoenix Theatre Company
Phoenix: Herbert Paine on May 30, 2024 The Phoenix Theatre Company's edition of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, directed and choreographed by Staś Kmieć, is good and quite entertaining. In its own right, it follows the tradition of the Broadway musical ~ brisk, easy to consume, emotionally uplifting, and endowed with a highly talented ensemble.

Review: TWO ARTISTS IN PRISON at Teatro Paraguas Second Stage
Albuquerque: Jackie Camborde on May 29, 2024 “Most theater companies choose their plays. Grottesco’s reveal themselves.” Thus begins the director’s notes for Theater Grottesco’s Two Artists in Prison, now playing at Teatro Paraguas’ Second Stage space. The play, co-directed by Grottesco Founder John Flax and Apollo Garcia Orellana, takes place in a dystopian future where artists are locked away at the hands of an authoritarian regime. The prisoners are forced to tell their captors stories on a daily basis; if they are entertaining, they get to remain, if not, the consequences are dire. Two Artists in Prison runs through June 9th.

Review: BAKED SHAKESPEARE: THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA at the Outlore Base Has Cape Town Abuzz(ing)
South Africa: Jaime Uranovsky on May 29, 2024 Of the four baked Shakespeare productions that have been staged in Cape Town since 2021, I have been lucky enough to have seen three of them. 2024’s show, THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA is, in my book, the group’s best production yet and provides a fun, relaxed, and interactive night at the theatre.

Review: THE WIZARD OF OZ at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre
Indianapolis: Melissa Hall on May 29, 2024 A trip on the yellow brick road is not a rare occurrence in local theater, but some productions just hit it out of the park. The current one at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre managed to find the perfect cast, include a wonderfully fresh and diverse group, including Bessie D. Smith as the delightfully devious Wicked Witch of the West.

Review: GOLDEN GIRLS at Masque Theatre Is a Hilarious and Moving Tribute to the Classic TV Show
South Africa: Jaime Uranovsky on May 29, 2024 GOLDEN GIRLS is one of those TV shows – you know the ones I mean. Those with a fan base whose members would murder to preserve the sanctity of the show in question. It was brave then to stage a show comprising four episodes of this beloved sitcom – but it proved an excellent choice because GOLDEN GIRLS at the Masque Theatre is superb.
