New Edition of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY to 'Come Out Swinging!' at the Davenport, 3/17

Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway returned to New York in February at the newly refurbished Davenport Theatre (354 W. 45th Street, Between 8th and 9th Avenues) with Forbidden Broadway: Alive and STILL Kicking. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, over the course of the spring, Alessandrini had planned on adding new material to reflect the season's openings. Now, the time as come to unveil the new edition, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! According to The New York Times, this version will begin performances March 17. (more...)

Last night, the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, recognized the talents of six outstanding women: Zoe Caldwell, Judith Dolan, Joanna Sherman, Sondra Gorney, Meiyin Wang and Katherine Kovner. The awards were presented at the League's 2014 Awards Celebration & Big Mingle Reception to be held at The Irene Diamond Stage (The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street) featuring emcee Tamara Tunie. The new Broadway play Mothers and Sons from 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally will offer a one-night-only special ticket price of $30 for patrons under the age of 30 for the Friday, March 14th performance of the show at 8PM. Ticket quantities are limited and must be purchased in person at the Golden Theatre box office at 252 West 45th Street during normal box office hours. Limit one ticket per patron with a valid ID. This performance will be followed by a talkback hosted by Playbill's Blake Ross and NY1'sFrank DiLella, with a panel discussion to include Terrence McNally and members of the cast. (more...)
