The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce that Padraic M. Kennedy will serve as Honorary Chair of the 20th Annual Celebration of the Arts in Howard County.  The Celebration gala will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College. Mr. Kennedy will make opening remarks in the Smith Theatre during the 90-minute program, which will feature a special 20th anniversary edition of the Rising Star Competition. (more...)

Held2gether, Improv for Life is returning for a 4th year as a part of the Collaborative at the Long Beach Playhouse, with its' latest set of original sketches, Sketchily Ever After. The original sketch compilation, which has sold out its' weekend run each year, has now been expanded to four shows, running Fridays and Saturdays, March 10-18th in the Studio Theatre. The 'Saturday Night Live' style event has become an annual favorite and a staple of the theatre's Studio Collaborative season. WAM Theatre is delighted to announce that their 2017 Fresh Takes Play reading series will begin with The Flora and Fauna by Alyson Mead, winner of the Arizona-based Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre New Work Contest.  The play chronicles the celebrations and challenges of a female friendship that spans almost 30 years. Additionally, this opening reading of the Fresh Takes Series will be a partnership with the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers, with a portion of the box office proceeds from the reading going to the Festival.
