Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), has announced the line-up of artists for Try It Like This: Directors and Choreographers Take the Stage, an evening of performances on Monday October 17, 2022 at 54 Below in New York City.

With fan favorites, like Jasmine Guy, Terrence Carson and Dorien Wilson, triple threats like Ne-Yo, Serayah, Romeo Miller, LeToya Luckett and LaLa Milan, and a roster of directors and writers of color, like Victoria Rowell, Robin Givens, Bree West and Patricia Cuffie Jones, these authentic Black stories will provide some genuine Christmas cheer. 

In MY OWN DIRECTIONS: A Black Man's Journey in the American Theatre, Sheldon Epps recounts his rollercoaster ride of a life in the theatre, with all the excitement and occasional anguish that come with the highs and lows.

A.D. Players at the George Theater will present the world premiere of Broadway-aimed Miss Maude this month.

New York Times Best Selling writer Tawni O’ Dell will get an industry presentation of her newest play, Pay The Writer. With eyes on Broadway for the 2023-24 season, the special presentation will be directed by Broadway and Television’s Sheldon Epps and will star Tony-nominated and multi-Emmy Award winner Keith David, two-time SAG Award winner Bryan Batt, and three-time Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Marcia Cross. The event will take place on Thursday, July 21.

From his obscure beginnings to overnight teen sensation, from unsung trailblazer to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the story of Lloyd Price has never been told onstage — until now.

Porchlight Music Theatre has staged a number of similar revues over the years, and I look back on those most fondly for the tremendous talent they have showcased. That could not be more true of director Kenny Ingram's production of Sheldon Epps's BLUES IN THE NIGHT.

Featuring audience favorite shows as well as two Michigan Premieres, Meadow Brook Theatre's 2022-2023 season has something for everyone!
