On March 12, 2023, on the eve of the 95th Academy Awards, French Riviera Film Festival (FRFF) founders Nicole Muj and Gotham Chandna paid tribute to legendary actor, the late Paul Sorvino at Jonathan Baker's Oscar Viewing Party.

E! founder and fellow Brooklynite Larry Namer presented the 2023 Icon Award honoring Paul to his widow Dee Dee Sorvino.  The special award presentation was planned well in advance of Tinseltown's big night. Sadly, the actor was overlooked in the official 'In Memoriam' portion of  the Oscars telecast.

As much as I admire the art of ballet, I have never seen a new, professional ballet performance, one that no one else has seen before. To say I was excited to be in the audience for the opening night of the world premiere of Houston Ballet's SUMMER AND SMOKE is an understatement, and it was everything that I hoped it to be!

William Electric Black gives his high-energy, high-concept production an immersive touch by bringing the Bard right into the audience's lap.

The Actors' Church has announced Theatre in the Garden, a dedicated season filled with Shakespearean comedy, puppetry, comedy and new takes on classic tales. Eight visiting companies will bring a wide variety of innovative theatre to our award winning gardens, marking a new era for the Actors' Church. St Paul's Church, world renowned as the Actors' Church, lies at the heart of London's West End. 

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's Stage2 Series presents two performances of a science fiction take on Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet on Friday, May 12 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 13 at 2:00 pm at The Strand Theatre, 543 Columbia Road, Boston.

Next week, Houston Ballet is presenting the premiere of Cathy Marston's SUMMER AND SMOKE, inspired by Tennessee Williams' play. It was my joy to speak with Jessica Collado, one of the leads for SUMMER AND SMOKE; I learned about her background, how SUMMER AND SMOKE was uniquely developed, and what we can expect from this beautiful production.

ROMEO AND JULIET…the classic love story of star-crossed lovers. To say that our culture is saturated with this tale is a fact that no one can deny. However, knowing the talent of the Houston Ballet, I was intrigued to see this legend translated to dance. As I watched the production, I quickly realized that this story is simply perfect as a ballet!

The Australian Shakespeare Company has done it again, with another fantastic outdoor evening of Shakespeare Under the Stars at Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. The production this time is the iconic romantic tragedy of Romeo & Juliet, and you will not be disappointed! Romeo & Juliet really is one of Shakespeare's best plays to experience outdoors, as the sun descends, and the stars begin to twinkle. All of course while enjoying a BYO picnic and bottle of prosecco.

The School of Theatre, Film & Television present Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet in the Tornabene Theatre at the University of Arizona. The famed love story, told in a bold, new and authentically American voice, is a presentation of TFTV's Arizona Repertory Theatre, the public laboratory and showcase for the School's professional actor training program. It marks the 50th production directed for the School by Brent Gibbs.  

Top stories include a first look at Camelot, as well as Sunset Boulevard at the Kennedy Center. Plus, new casting has been announced for Leopoldstadt, and more!

Rebel Wilson, Clara Rugaard, Jamie Ward, Rupert Everett, Jason Isaacs and Derek Jacobi will star in Timothy Scott Bogart’s new Romeo & Juliet pop musical movie. The cast will also include Tony Award-winner Dan Fogler, Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Rupert Graves, and Grammy Award-winners Tayla Parx and Ledisi.

Freah off his Elvis biopic receiving eight Oscar nominations, Baz Luhrmann has signed a first look deal with Warner Brothers Pictures. Luhrmann will be developing and directing original feature material. He is also allowed to direct outisde projects as well. He is also known for directing Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, and more.
