The award-winning VITAL THEATRE COMPANY has announced that its 2014 Fall Season will include four musicals for children and families, performed by adults. The season will open with The Butterfly Girl, which had its World Premiere on the Vital stage in 2011. Two popular shows returning this season are Peace, Love, and Cupcakes The Musical and the long running favorite Pinkalicious, The Musical. Nancy and her pals Wanda, Rhonda, Bree, and Lionel are super-excited to be dancing in a school recital. Nancy is sure she will be cast as a shimmering mermaid, but ends up as an ordinary tree instead. When Bree lands the coveted role, Nancy realizes that being fancy comes in many forms-all it takes is a dash of imagination, camaraderie, and a little joie de vivre. The Eisemann Center and the City of Richardson announced the 2014-2015 Season of Eisemann Center Presents (ECP) at the Annual Season Preview Party on Thursday, May 8, 2014. The season will include the popular Theatre Comedy Series with four productions and 23 performances; the Methodist Richardson Family Theatre Series with five productions and Jeffrey Siegel's Keyboard Conversations with a total of four concerts. In addition, there are eight MainStage Shows featuring a diverse mix of programming and artistic disciplines. Some of the more popular productions and artists from the past twelve years are returning to join the season - Mandy Patinkin, Steve Solomon, the Paul Taylor Dance Company and The Church Basement Ladies. They will be joined by some outstanding new artists and shows for the Eisemann Center, including Ben Vereen, Darlene Love, Dennis DeYoung, Arlo Guthrie, Taylor Mac, Andrea McArdle, Faith Prince, Donna McKechnie, and Maureen McGovern. Ghostlight Records has announced the release of the Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Fancy Nancy The Musical. The acclaimed children's show is currently running at Vital Theatre Company, New York's leading not-for-profit family theatre. The album will have a digital release of March 12 with physical copies online and in stores on April 23. The show features music by Danny Abosch, book by Susan DiLallo and lyrics by both. Fancy Nancy is a 2005 children's picture book written by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser. The book spent nearly 100 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, launching a series that now numbers 50 books, selling 20 million volumes. Fancy Nancy has been on Publishers Weekly's bestseller list for picture books, was a Children's Book-of-the-Month Club selection and a Junior Library Guild Selection. It also won a 'Borders 2006 Original Voices' award and has been translated into 18 languages, including Hungarian and Hebrew. In April 2012, Nancy was featured in her first chapter book, Nancy Clancy: Super Sleuth. Books in the Fancy Nancy series have now spent almost 300 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, and in the fall of 2012, Fancy Nancy became a musical, produced by the Vital Theatre in New York City. I knew it was bound too happen sooner or later. My almost nine-year-old is getting too old for "kids" shows and my four year old boy is too boy for "girl" shows. So when the Vital Theatre Company, one of my favorite family theatre venues in town, invited me to the Pink Carpet Opening of FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL, I did the only thing an editor of a family theatre column could do.
