The silent auction item at The New York Pops annual gala/concert held at Carnegie Hall and the Mandarin Hotel in April, offered a pianist to play at your private party complete with catering by Trattoria del Arte. The Pops Concert and Gala's proceeds help finance The Pops/Ed Programs. For the third year, the winning bidder got much more than she bargained for. Not only did the advertised pianist (Stephen Sorokoff) appear, but also a slew of New York's must celebrated keyboard artists and entertainers joined the festivities.

'Orphaned Songs for Orphaned Starfish' - a concert of composer Stephen Schwartz (Monday, November 19 at The Cutting Room), was an evening of unsung/cut songs from Wicked, Pippin, Working, and Children of Eden along with a new duet from the stage production of The Prince of Egypt. The concert also included some favorites from The Bakers Wife, Magic Show, Pippin, Pocahontas, Wicked and his opera Seance On a Wet Afternoon. The benefit evening for The Orphaned Starfish Foundation raised over $60,000.

The 7:00 pm event on Monday, November 19th, and held at The Cutting Room, 44 East 32nd Street, NYC benefits The Orphaned Starfish Foundation www.osf.org. It features an evening of unsung and new songs as well as hits by Stephen Schwartz.

An evening of unsung and new songs as well as hits by Stephen Schwartz will be performed at a Orphaned Songs for Orphaned Starfish a special benefit evening for The Orphaned Starfish Foundation. This one night only show will be Monday, November 19th at 7:00 pm at The Cutting Room, 44 East 32nd Street, NYC. The musical evening will have performances by Stephen Schwartz and Tony Award winners and Broadway stars to be announced. Musical Director is Michael Lavine, and Paul Kreppel is the Concert Director, with Host Scott Coulter and the Creator is Carol de Giere.

Living legend Carol Channing is getting a one-of-a-kind tribute made up of over 50,000 fingerprints and videos, spawned after the success of the Harvey Milk project in San Francisco. Artist Khoi Nguyen is doing a series of prolific painting/installations of icons like Harvey Milk and Carol Channing that involves interactive technology and consists of thousands of fingerprints from celebrities to the homeless as participants.

Birdland, the venue that has presented so many music luminaries in it's long history had the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester on it's stage last night. Melissa, one of the true giants of the music world made her Birdland debut and celebrated the release of her 21st album, The Fellas. The album pays tribute to the male singers, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Mel Torme, and others who influenced her as a young artist.
