The album is produced by Michael Croiter (Matilda, Heathers, Big Fish) and Executive Produced by Daryl Roth, featuring the talents of Alex Brightman, Joanna Glushak, Janet Metz, Brad Oscar, Alan Schmuckler, Aaron Serotsky, and Donna Vivino. The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) has announced that its 2014 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will total $1.65 million dollars, marking the largest single contribution in BC/EFA history and bringing the foundation's total contribution to BC/EFA to $10 million since it began ten years ago. Performers included Kirstin Maldonado, Kate Wetherhead,Barrett Wilbert Weed, Tituss Burgess, Keala Settle, Nathan Tysen & Chris Miller, Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk, Joey Contreras, Adam Gwon, Jeff Bowen, Georgia Stitt,Hunter Bell and more, with 5J Barrow returning as the Broadway Unlocked House Band. The National Music Theater Institute (NMTI) students have just returned to campus from two weeks training in New York City; scroll down for photos from the visit! NMTI is the newest credit-earning, semester-long intensive from the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Utilizing the O'Neill's 50-year experience in training young theater artists and history of developing new musicals (including Nine, Avenue Q, In The Heights, [title of show], and Violet), NMTI offers broad-based training in all areas of musical theater: acting, singing, directing, writing, dance, composition, and choreography. In addition to the semester's rigorous curriculum-classes 14 hours a day, 7 days a week with emphasis on collaboration and the creation of original work- two weeks of the semester are spent learning in the epicenter of American music theater. 54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presented 'The Songs of Miller and Tysen' last night, September 15th, 2014. Described as equal parts James Taylor and Stephen Sondheim, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen's songs have been performed everywhere from East Village folk clubs, to Off-Broadway theaters, to Sesame Street. The concert featureed some of Broadway's best performers singing never-before-heard material from Tuck Everlasting, which premieres at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta this winter. The concert also included favorite tunes from The Burnt Part Boys, and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. (more...)
