Stage and Screen Actress Paula Kelly Dies at 77

Ebony Repertory Theatre (ERT) and the family of Paula Kelly announced today that Emmy-nominated actress, dancer, choreographer and singer, Paula Kelly died on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Whittier, California from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 77.

This trio of works includes two world premieres, 'Fragments,' and 'V.,' and an encore presentation of 'Crisalida'. The writings of Friedrich Nietzsche in 'Fragments,' and Virginia Woolf in 'V,' and the music of Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla in 'Crisalida,' combine with the literature of our own personal histories to reveal the interior language of our minds. INTERIOR DIALOGUES is conceived and choreographed by Diego Funes in collaboration with the dancers.

Marilyn D'Honau is not only the youngest surviving cast member of the original production of West Side Story, she was also the youngest when the show opened in 1957. D'Honau was a sixteen- year-old high school senior when she was cast as Clarice, one of the Jet girls. Though she'd been performing professionally since she was twelve, she credits having good ballet training for her successful audition.
