terraNOVA Collective has announced the 2014 Groundworks New Play Series at Cherry Lane Studio this June. The 2014 Groundworks New Play Series features the 6 new plays developed through the 2014 Groundbreakers Playwrights Group, and 2 new soloNOVA ARTS Workshops. This year's playwrights work has been produced or developed with numerous prestigious theatres including The Public, Joe's Pub, New York Theatre Workshop, The Old Vic, Roundabout Theatre Company, Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, Edward F. Direction by Liz Carlson (The Playwrights Realm's Lottie in the Late Afternoon), Matt Dickson (INTAR's The Lowest Form of Writing), John Giampietro (EST's Year of the Rooster), and Jesse Jou (Rising Circle Theater Collectives's Say You Heard My Echo). F*It Club, the New York Innovative Award-winning film and theatre company, continues its annual series of short, commissioned world-premiere plays at the Medicine Show Theatre in Manhattan with The Spring Fling: The Morning After, six new plays by Hilary Bettis (American Girls), Nick Jones (The Coward, Trevor), Krista Knight (Clementine and the Cyber Ducks), Janine Nabers (Annie Bosh is Missing), Heidi Schreck (There Are No More Big Secrets, Creature), and Joe Tracz (Up North) and directed by Oliver Butler (Blood Play), Matt Dickson (The Man-Made Rock), Mike Donahue (Grace, or the Art of Climbing), Portia Krieger (The Netflix Plays), Stella Powell-Jones (Williamstown Theatre Festival Directing Assistant), and Pirronne Yousefzadeh (Ten, The Tenant). Performances will be Thursday, April 4th through Sunday, April 14th with Thursday through Saturday night performances at 8pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2p. (more...)

THE MAN-MADE ROCK, a dramatic comedy, which will run through December 16 at the 4th Street Theatre, is set in Texas and written by Justin Adams. Featuring direction from Matt Dickson (who just finished a run in Lincoln Center's War Horse and also appeared in all three parts of The Coast of Utopia), the cast will feature Broadway veterans Martin LaPlatney (the original Broadway cast of Amadeus, Roundabout's recent The Road to Mecca) and Stephen Bradbury (Dividing the Estate, the original cast of A Few Good Men on Broadway) alongside Blake DeLong, David Marantz (One Life to Live, As The World Turns) and Jon Krupp. Get a first look at the production in the photos below!
