n celebration of Bay Area Cabaret's Spring Season Finale at the famed Venetian Room, Fairmont San Francisco, Bay Area Cabaret presents Stephanie J. Block, the sensational star of the mega-hit musical, The Cher Show, on Sunday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. in a program of cherished songs from Broadway musical theater past and present, and the Great American Songbook. Renowned Broadway musical director Ben Cohn will be her accompanist.

The Hylton Performing Arts Center hosted a special two-day celebration for the Hylton Center's 12th Anniversary Gala on April 29 and April 30. The first Anniversary Gala held in-person since 2019, the event welcomed more than 1,000 guests and supported the Hylton Center's mission of presenting diverse performances and programs of high quality and artistic excellence to inspire, educate, and enrich the community.

Robert Ramirez has been named the new head of the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, effective August 1. Ramirez joins CMU from the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas at Austin (UT), where he served as professor and chair.

'The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder' picks up the story of its central character, Penny Proud, and includes her madcap family: parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and grandmother Suga Mama (and Puff!). Of course, it would not be 'The Proud Family' without Penny's loyal crew Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez and more.

Award-winning actor/director Frank Ferrante re-creates his acclaimed New York and London stage portrayal celebrating America's greatest comedian - Groucho Marx.  You will feel as though Groucho is back, as Ferrante sings, dances and performs classic routines on the North Coast Rep stage, May 2nd & 3rd, 2022 at 7:30pm.

Before taking the stage to perform during the In Memoriam at the GRAMMYs, Ben Platt shared an update on the progress of the Merrily We Roll Along film. Directed by Richard Linklater, the film is set to be shot across the next twenty years and in reverse chronological order. Beanie Feldstein and Blake Jenner will join Platt in the new adaption.

Lady Gaga has been confirmed to perform at the 64th Grammy Awards. Lady Gaga is nominated for five Grammy Awards this year for her recent collaborative album with Tony Bennett. Nominations include Record of the Year and Album of the Year, the duet “I Get a Kick Out of You” and the album “Love for Sale.”

A special tribute to Stephen Sondheim will take place during this year's Grammy Awards, Variety reports. Sung by Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Ben Platt and Rachel Zegler, the performance will be part of the show's traditional In Memoriam segment, which honors those we have lost in the past year.
