The Signature Theatre world premiere production of The Antipodes, written by Residency Five playwright Annie Baker and directed by Lila Neugebauer, has just been extended by one week for a second time and will now run through May 28, 2017 with a Sunday, April 23 opening in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The Los Angeles Master Chorale puts spirituals at the forefront of a concert called “Wade in the Water” to be performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday, April 30 at 7 PM. The concert features 13 songs with the spirituals juxtaposed with other folk music traditions such as early American shape note singing, as well as a contemporary Korean piece, and a pair of European choral masterpieces from the 20th century. The concert will feature 48 singers performing a cappella, conducted by Artistic Director Grant Gershon and Assistant Conductor Jenny Wong. The concert also provides an opportunity to highlight several of the Master Chorale's solo voices on the program. (more...)

Turning away from what she calls Oscar Wilde's "Dance of Death" and instead creating a "Dance of Life," internationally acclaimed adaptor-director Yael Farber has reinterpreted the biblical figure known as Salome as an agent of revolution whose mysterious act-demanding the head of John the Baptist-changed the course of history. The world premiere of Salome opens the Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2015-2016 Mainstage Season and marks the Company's entry in the Women's Voices Theater Festival. The production runs October 6-November 8, 2015, at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW). (more...)

Link Up is a highly participatory program that pairs orchestras across the country with schools in their local communities, inviting students to learn about orchestral repertoire through a year-long, hands-on music curriculum culminating in a live performance in which the students interact from their seats.
