International Festival Of Arts & Ideas Announces Artistic Programming

The artistic programming of the 2020 International Festival of Arts & Ideas is underway and will continue through the month of June. The lineup includes More or Less I Am, created by Compagnia de' Colombari; Activist Songbook, created by composer Byron Au Yong and lyricist Aaron Jafferis; and Let's Make a Dance, created by Keigwin + Company.

Live Arts at the Morris Museum presents New Jersey's own dance heroes, 10 Hairy Legs, in Trouble Will Find Me: Remixed, a one-of-a-kind sensory experience Thursday, November 21st through Sunday, November 23rd . 10 Hairy Legs, which celebrates the artistry of the male dancer will join forces with up-from-the-street choreographer Doug Elkins for Trouble Will Find Me: Remixed. This new, new site-specific piece will be staged, fittingly, in the Museum's Main Gallery with the thrilling new exhibition, Aerosol: Graffiti l Street Art l New Jersey l Now as their backdrop.

Set upon the picturesque banks of the Hudson River and immersed in vibrant autumnal foliage, celebrated companies and artists presented diverse and world-class dance at this year's  Hudson Valley Dance Festival on Saturday, October 12, 2019, in Catskill, NY. Two performances at Historic Catskill Point raised $145,964 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. 

Lighting Designer Clifton Taylor Wins Knight Of Illumination Award In U.K.

Acclaimed lighting designer Clifton Taylor has won a prestigious Knight of Illumination Award in the United Kingdom (KOI-UK). Taylor, whose work has been commissioned on Broadway, off-Broadway, regionally, and in 17 countries outside the United States, won for his design of 'Four Quartets,' based on the poem by T.S. Eliot, which was remounted at the Barbican Theatre in London.

Dance Now Announces Lineup For 2019 Festival Encore, September 26

DANCE NOW announces the lineup for the 2019 Festival ENCORE! The one-night-only performance will feature the 10 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the 2019 DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub. This year's Challenge winner is Nicole Vaughan-Diaz. As the Challenge winner, Vaughan-Diaz will receive a $1,500 stipend and a weeklong creative residency at DANCE NOW Silo on Kirkland Farm in Bucks County, PA. The ENCORE! program will be hosted by Deborah Lohse (aka TruDee).

The Initiative will fund our overarching commitment to commissioning 10 choreographers in the next 5 years. The Initiative serves to further demonstrate the company's commitment to the importance of bold and new choreographic voices in the field that challenge and inspire.
