It was announced today that Tony Award-winner Carole Shelley will join the cast of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical. She will be stepping into the role of Miss Shingle on October 28th. Jane Carr, who originated the role, will play her final performance on October 26th. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Theatre20's 'COMPANY' Hits Most of the Right Notes

Theatre20's production of COMPANY is now playing at the Berkeley Street Threatre in downtown Toronto, and the production - which opened on June 27 hits most of the right notes, but I found it to be lacking the finesse it needed to be the first class production it had the potential to be. The story should be a familiar one to many - a man in his mid thirties with commitment issues struggling to find meaning in his life. The plot is so standard, in fact, it's practically a cliche. In COMPANY, however, the single lifestyle is scrutinized under a microscope in a series of scenes focusing on the the protagonist, Bobby, and his interactions with his coupled friends. Bobby even quotes Socrates at one point, stating that 'the unexamined life is not worth living.' (more...)

Single Tickets Go on Sale July 1 for Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season

On July 1, 2014, single tickets go on sale for Signature Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season. The 2014/15 season will bring three new musicals to life in world premieres including the world premiere of the Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson penned musical adaptation of the 1982 movie Diner; Kid Victory by John Kander (Chicago, Cabaret) and Greg Pierce; and Soon by Nick Blaemire. The season begins with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George; and continues with the musical version of Sinclair Lewis's best-selling novel Elmer Gantry; the DC area premiere of Sex with Strangers by Laura Eason; a world premiere concert event Simply Sondheim celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim; and Kander & Ebb's classic musical Cabaret. Tickets to all of these events as well as Signature's Cabaret and Holiday Follies concerts go on sale to the public July 1 at 10AM. (more...)

On the heels of its Tony® Award win for Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murderwill bring its award home to the Walter Kerr Theatre on Wednesday, June 18, to allow fans to pose with the prized medallion immediately following that day's matinee performance. In a special, unprecedented ceremony beginning at 4:45 p.m., fans will be invited to hold the 2014 Tony® Award for Best Musical and pose for photos in front of the theater (219 West 48th Street).
