The Kleban Foundation celebrates the 31st anniversary of the annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre with the announcement of the 2021 prizewinners. The Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Benjamin Scheuer. The Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to co-librettists Melissa Li and Kit Yan.

Notables from President Bill Clinton and Whoopi Goldberg to musicians Wynton Marsalis and Sting joined together on Sunday, Jan 24th to “Save Birdland”.  During the fundraising concert the Broadway community was treated to “All That Jazz” starring the original Velmas of Chicago, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth.

An encore presentation of Grateful, The Songs of John Bucchino 20th Anniversary Concert has been announced. Performances will run January 15-31.

After a well received debut, John Bucchino's fundraising virtual concert is back, this time with a legendary singer joining in on the merriment.

The Actors Fund today announced the release of the “Make Them Hear You / Grateful” video to raise funds for their programs and services. The video features Jelani Alladin, Chuck Cooper, André De Shields, Brandon Victor Dixon, Joshua Henry and Billy Porter.

Two industry veterans have teamed up to honor the 25th Anniversary of Jason Robert Brown’s SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD featuring one of musical theatre’s most inspiring finales, Hear My Song. Performer Jill Marie Burke and music director Brent Crayon enlisted the support of director Alan Bailey, and together they assembled Broadway performers, regional theatre standouts and high school musical students, to record a music video honoring the work of Jason Robert Brown and benefiting the Educational Theatre Foundation.

On Monday night, The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company presented the sixteenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to the team of Ben Bonnema & Christopher Staskel, and Michael R. Jackson. 

Whether it's a benefit or a birthday party, a Christmas show or a CD release, the nominees for the Broadway World Award as BEST SPECIAL EVENT, MULTIPLE were events where a good time was had by all.

To celebrate, on Tuesday, Dec. 15th at 8 pm EST, 'Grateful, The Songs of John Bucchino 20th Anniversary Virtual Concert' will premiere, featuring 10 songs from the album, plus 5 other songs of John's. Some of the original singers will be reprising their songs, and others will be sung by some old and new friends, all accompanied by John.

Twenty years later the songs of John Bucchino are still in demand. On December 15th fans all over the world will get to see why.

Singing actor Jayson Kerr is one of many to be found working at 54 Below and, like his colleagues, he is always on the lookout for an acting gig. With no acting work or 54 Below work, the big-voiced baritone is making the most of the quarantine.
