Chicago's legendary sketch and improv comedy theater The Second City returns to the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater at Dr. Phillips Center this October with the next generation of comedic genius.

Opera Orlando's 2021-22 season celebrates one of opera's greats: Giuseppe Verdi. The Company kicks off its season with his beloved classic, La Traviata, on the MainStage at Dr. Phillips Center. Stephanie Rhodes Russell, making her Opera Orlando debut, conducts musicians from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, with artistic director Grant Preisser directing this original, updated production that takes inspiration from the life and experiences of Molly Bloom and is set in the glitz and grit of an underworld New York.

Settings for musicals range from the rather ordinary to the extraordinary. Audiences can be transported to the pre-war Austrian countryside or the magical world of Oz, or in the case of THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, Celebration Theatre Company’s latest production at Dr. Phillips Center, a county spelling bee. And though this may not sound like the most exciting of places to set a musical, this show is filled with quirky (but lovable) characters, a compelling story and great music – making for a fun couple hours of theatrical magic that is both touching and funny, and which also illustrates some of the challenges facing young people today – parental approval, pressure to excel, first crushes and the intense need to fit in.

Celebration Theatre Company continues its fifth season with Rachel Sheinkin and William Finn's Tony Award-winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, running from April 30 - May 9, 2021 at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts' Alexis and Jim Pugh Theatre.

Opera Orlando’s MainStage series continues with the remount of Opera Orlando’s acclaimed production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel. This scrumptious treat for the whole family, sung in English and reduced to a kid-friendly 75 minutes, will be presented in the round at Dr. Phillips Center in the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater.

Opera Orlando's 2020-21 Season is almost here as the Opera on the MainStage series kicks off in December with Johann Strauss II's Die Fledermaus: The Revenge of the Bat, sung in English with English dialogue and supertitles, at Dr. Phillips Center in the Walt Disney Theater.

Opera Orlando's 2020-21 season continues to evolve as COVID-19 numbers remain in flux. Having already transitioned summer concerts and other events online, the Opera is delaying the “On the Mainstage” series from October to December.

While monitoring and assessing the local impact of COVID-19, Opera Orlando continues to plan for a spectacular season. As the state continues its progress towards reopening and social distancing guidelines evolve, Opera Orlando's top priority remains the safety and comfort of our patrons. To that end, we are excited to launch the season with several virtual/online offerings for our audience to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes!

Since its opening, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts has developed and provided a host of programs, classes and camps to serve individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Come experience a 70s classic brought to life!

Picture it, April 2018.  Encore Performing Arts has commandeered the stage at The Abbey, a swanky downtown Orlando lounge theatre, to convert it into their spring production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.  My friends and I meet up for the Bee, a nice way to finish off a birthday weekend that - for myself at least - began ten hours earlier, 14,000 feet in the air.

From the critically acclaimed and award winning creative team behind 'HELLO' and Goodbye comes Adagio, a new play by John Mark Jernigan.

New Generation Theatrical has announced the 16 play selections that will perform in the inaugural Be Original Theater Festival at the Dr. Phillips Center. The festival will be held at the Dr. Phillips Center October 4 a?" 6, 2019, and will feature 32 total performances over three days, spread throughout the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater and the Rehearsal Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center.

New Generation Theatrical has extended the deadline for play submissions for the inaugural Be Original Theater Festival at the Dr. Phillips Center. Submissions will now be accepted through August 7, 2019.

Renowned soul-blues singer Billy Price, whose new album, Dog Eat Dog, is released on Gulf Coast Records August 2, embarks on a year-long tour in support of the record, with a CD Release Party at Ottobar, 2549 N.
