Lincoln Center to Host Live Viewing of Boston Marathon, 4/21

In support of the people of Boston, a city known for its strength as well as for excellence in the performing arts, Lincoln Center will host a free, live community viewing of the Boston Marathon this Monday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., on the 40-foot media wall in the Center's David Rubenstein Atrium, located at Broadway between 62nd and 63rd Streets. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9:30 a.m. The 'wichcraft cafe in the Atrium will offer a 10% discount for all food and beverage sold that day to any patron who says "Boston Strong" when they place their order. Lincoln Center Education Launches Summer Forum Learning Labs for Artists & Educators, 7/7-18

Russell Granet, Executive Director of Lincoln Center Education (LCE), announced details today ofSummer Forum 2014, a re-envisioned professional development experience which expands on Lincoln Center's unparalleled dedication to professional growth for local, national, and international educators and artists. LCE's Summer Forum, which takes place July 7 through 18 and succeeds the previous Summer Session series, will feature in-depth and hands-on educational workshops based on LCE's core values of engagement, equity, integrity and creativity, and its approach to aesthetic education and focus on "thinking like an artist." Summer Forum is open to educators and artists of all kinds, and LCE-trained teaching artists will lead labs that explore the process of imaginative learning and discovery through works of performance and fine art, helping the participants determine how to apply what they have learned in their own classrooms, whether it be towards science, English, history or the arts. Lab topics throughout Summer Forum will include sessions on aesthetic education practices, teaching artistry to arts and Common Core, creating art in the community, and LCE's pedagogy for engaging students in problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The new Broadway play Mothers and Sons from 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally has announced today that it will offer a series of post-show talkbacks in conjunction with the Huffington Post Gay Voices on four consecutive Wednesday evenings (4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30) at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Special guests will include LGBT activist and journalist David Mixner, attorney Roberta Kaplan, Huffington Post Gay Voices deputy editor Curtis M. The new Broadway play Mothers and Sons from 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally will offer a one-night-only special ticket price of $30 for patrons under the age of 30 for the Friday, March 14th performance of the show at 8PM. Ticket quantities are limited and must be purchased in person at the Golden Theatre box office at 252 West 45th Street during normal box office hours. Limit one ticket per patron with a valid ID. Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Tyne Daly in the upcoming Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, it was announced today. Weller will portray Cal Porter opposite Daly's Katharine Gerard. Steggert, currently seen on Broadway in Big Fish, reprises the role of Will Ogden which he created in an earlier production of the play at Bucks County Playhouse. Mothers and Sons marks Mr. McNally's 20th Broadway show, and will be directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall). It will play Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances have been set to begin Sunday, February 23, 2014, and the opening night has been announced for Monday, March 24, 2014.
