Jeanna de Waal (currently starring in Broadway's Kinky Boots; who also starred in the Off-Broadway revival of Carrie; Green Day's American Idiot on Broadway; We Will Rock You on the West End; and Glinda in the National Tour of Wicked) has joined the lineup of special guests for Martin and Realbuto's April 25th Outcasts Like Us concert at 54 Below. Previously announced Anneliese van der Pol has left the event due to scheduling issues. (more...)

Just last night, the cast and creative team of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots celebrated the show's one year anniversary with a celebratory curtain call and cake. With a Tony Award-winning score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, a book by four-time Tony Award-winnerHarvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots opened on April 4, 2013 and continues to play to standing-room-only crowds nightly. The show, which has broken all box office records at the Hirshfeld Theatre, recouped its costs in October 2013, after just 30 weeks on Broadway. Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today that Kinky Boots, the Tony Award-winning musical, will celebrate its 100,000th fan 'Like' on Facebook by offering free tickets to lottery entrants for the week of March 18-23, 2014. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Kinky Boots will welcome new cast members beginning tonight, March 4, 2014. Jeanna de Waal joins the cast as 'Lauren' (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's 'Masters of Sex'), and Cortney Wolfson, who was previously in the ensemble, moves up to the role of 'Nicola' (replacing Lena Hall, who leaves to join the cast of Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Anna Eilinsfeld takes over Wolfson's role in the cast. (more...)

Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig have announced new leads for their smash hit musical Kinky Boots; Andy Kelso, who currently plays 'Harry', will take over the role of 'Charlie Price' on January 28, 2014 following Stark Sands' January 26 departure. Jeanna de Waal will join the cast as 'Lauren,' beginning March 4, 2014 (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's 'Masters of Sex'), and Jake Odmark joins the ensemble in the roles previously played by Andy Kelso. As previously announced, Billy Porter, this year's Tony Award-winner for Best Actor in a Musical, will remain with Kinky Boots. (more...)

MCC Theater recently announced that Neil LaBute's new play, Reasons to be Happy, also directed by LaBute, will now extend through Saturday, June 29th. Reasons to Be Happy is a companion piece to LaBute's critically-acclaimed award-winning play,Reasons to Be Pretty, first produced at MCC Theater in 2008 before moving to Broadway where it was nominated for three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Play. Performances began at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on May 16, 2013. It officially opened last night and BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the theatre arrivals below!
