LUCKY STIFF Adaptation to Have West Coast Premiere at Hollywood Film Festival

The West Coast premiere of the film adaptation LUCKY STIFF will take place at the Hollywood Film Festival on October 17 at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome. The film, based on an off-Broadway show from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty ('Ragtime'), stars Jason Alexander ('Seinfeld'), British stage actor Dominic Marsh, Tony winner Nikki M. James ('Book of Mormon,' 'Les Miserables'), Pamela Shaw (recreating the character she portrayed on the stage) and the late Dennis Farina ('Get Shorty', 'Saving Private Ryan'). (more...)

Jason Alexander Makes Houston Symphony Debut, 9/5

On September 5, 6 and 7, the multi-talented singer, actor and comedian Jason Alexander will make his Houston Symphony debut with An Evening of Comedy & Song, led by Principal POPS Conductor Michael Krajewski. While best known for his iconic portrayal of "George Costanza" in the ground-breaking hit TV show Seinfeld, Alexander returns to his Tony Award-winning roots for a night of music and laughs as he reminisces about his remarkable and versatile career on the stage and screen. Bringing his singular brand of entertainment, Alexander kicks off the 2014-15 POPS Season by performing such Broadway hits as "Comedy Tonight" from A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum, "Trouble" from The Music Man, "Magic To Do/Corner of the Sky" from Pippin and "Shiksa Goddess" from The Last Five Years as well as three new musical medleys. This concert is made possible in part through the support of Cynthia Woods Mitchell POPS at Jones Hall and BBVA Compass. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Jason Alexander Goes From Broadway Star to Star Director in BROADWAY BOUND at the Odyssey

From December 1986 to September 1988, Jason Alexander, the actor best known for his role as George Costanza for nine seasons on the television series Seinfeld, played older brother Stanley in the original Gene Saks production of BROADWAY BOUND on Broadway. It's a play that he loves dearly, calling it Neil Simon's strongest dramedy, and he has directed the marvelous production on the intimate Odyssey stage through September 21, effectively seating the audience in the living room of the Jerome home. Mandy Patinkin Coming Back to Broadway in 2015?

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra today announced that stage and screen star Mandy Patinkin just withdrew from an upcoming appearance on January 22, 2015 due to a scheduling conflict with an upcoming Broadway production. Patinkin has been replaced by Jason Alexander in the program, which will be held at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Which show Patinkin will return to Broadway in has yet to be announced. (more...)

Jason Alexander Will Step in for Mandy Patinkin at BSO's SuperPops Program

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has confirmed that due a schedule conflict resulting from participation in an upcoming Broadway production, Mandy Patinkin has withdrawn from his engagement with the Orchestra, slated for January 22 at The Music Center at Strathmore and January 23-25, 2015 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. In his place, the BSO welcomes actor Jason Alexander, best known for his portrayal as George Costanza on the hit series 'Seinfeld,' in addition to his lengthy Broadway career. BSO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly will conduct the program, featuring music and humor as Alexander reminisces about his remarkable and versatile career on the stage and screen, and performs songs from several Broadway favorites, including Music Man, Pippin and Merrily We Roll Along.
