This evening, the 2023 Helen Hayes Awards took place at The Anthem on the District Wharf, with over 1,600 theatre-makers and theatre supporters in attendance. The 2023 Audie Awards recognizes distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment. Billy Porter won for Best Autobiography/Memoir for his Finding Me audiobook. Viola Davis’ Finding Me, which she wrote and narrated, and published by HarperCollins Publishers, earned two Audie Awards. The Audio Publishers Association has announced finalists for the 2023 Audie Awards®, the premier awards program recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment. Beginning on June 9, and running through July 3, 2022, Theater J brings Fires in the Mirror: Crown Heights, Brooklyn and Other Identities to the stage. The groundbreaking documentary play was conceived, written, and originally performed by Anna Deavere Smith in the wake of the violence and unrest that struck the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, in 1991.

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) have announced finalists for the 2022 Audie Awards. Finalists include Cynthia Erivo for Best Female Narrator and Lin-Manuel Miranda for Best Male Narrator.
