Steppenwolf Theatre Company's ninth annual First Look Repertory of New Work, features three developmental productions of new plays, presented in rotating repertory through August 24, 2014 in the Garage Theatre (1624 N Halsted St). First Look 2014 includes: Ironbound by Martyna Majok, Hushabye by Tanya Saracho and Okay, Bye by Joshua Conkel. The 2014 festival also features readings of two new plays, American Beauty Shop by Dana Lynn Formby and Opium Den by Julie Marie Myatt. Tickets to First Look Repertory of New Work ($20) are on sale now. To purchase tickets or RSVP for the free readings, call Audience Services at 312-335-1650. Penumbra Theatre Announces 2013-2014 Season

Penumbra Theatre has announced 15 events offered within the 2013-2014 Season. The season marks the 37th year for Penumbra and it will celebrate the staging of plays and the introduction of new events to deepen and enrich the theatre experience. New events include Let's Talk Theatre hosted by Sarah Bellamy, the Claude Edison Purdy Individual Artist Festival, and ALOUD: A Festival of New Work by Third Year Summer Institute Students. Performances of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's highly anticipated world-premiere production of Head of Passes by ensemble member Tarell Alvin McCraney began April 4. Inspired by the Biblical Book of Job, ensemble member Tina Landau directs following her acclaimed collaboration with McCraney for the The Brother/Sister Plays (2010), with a cast featuring ensemble members Alana Arenas, Jon Michael Hill (May 21 - June 9) and Tim Hopper with James T. Alfred, Kyle Beltran (April 4 - May 19), Chris Boykin, Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Glenn Davis, Ron Cephas Jones and Jacqueline Williams. Head of Passes began previews April 4, 2013 (Opening Night is April 14, 2013; Press Performances are April 13 at 3pm and April 16 at 7:30pm) and runs through June 9, 2013 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St).
