BWW Interviews: BRANDON CURRY, a Charlotte Native Talks GHOST THE MUSICAL
by Linda Ann Watt - Mar 22, 2014

I woke up to this text from Camille. No, it's not meant to expose her (and I won't tag you hun), BUT, this brings up a topic that's been on my mind a lot lately. Are our kids overscheduled, who or what is to blame, and what/can we/should we DO something about it? Note the time of this text (2:53AM). A full day of school (all Honors classes), straight to school musical rehearsal (Hairspray), straight to a performance (Freckleface), then finally home to work literally ALL night on a school project due by 12pm the next day. Now. I partially blame myself (I've exposed my kids to everything and I'm not a good example of relaxing), I partially blame the teachers (for piling on too much all at once), I partially blame society (for making kids feel like that they have to do EVERYTHING), and I partially blame my kid for WANTING to take on everything (plus probably poor time management). All I know is this is unhealthy and I don't like it. I know we're at the end of the school year, so it's extra stressful, BUT kids at this age should NOT have to pull all-nighters. PARENTS: What have you noticed? (more...)

Bruce Joel Rubin, Creator of GHOST, Is 'Overwhelmed' by Musical's Success
by BWW News Desk - Mar 08, 2014

Bruce Joel Rubin wrote Ghost almost 25 years ago. Since then, it has been adapted as a musical with the help of Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, who worked on the music and lyrics. When Ghost hit the silver screen back in 1990, Rubin never thought it would stand the test of time, let alone become a musical. Because of its unexpected success, Rubin has a few words he wanted to share. (more...)

BWW Reviews: GHOST: THE MUSICAL is Dead on Arrival
by David Clarke - Feb 19, 2014

When GHOST: THE MUSICAL opened on Broadway it was met by a bevy of critical slams and was plagued by technical issues that would stall the production. Now, the troubled movie turned musical turned theme-park ride is limping, zombie-like, across the nation in a Non-Equity National Tour. Luckily, the production is employing a handful of theatre professionals. In many ways, that is this overblown clunker of a show's only saving grace. (more...)

BWW Interviews: Brandon Curry Talks GHOST: THE MUSICAL
by David Clarke - Feb 12, 2014

Fresh off of Broadway, the visually spectacular GHOST: THE MUSICAL is making an appearance in Houston as part of Gexa Energy's Broadway at the Hobby Center series. The musical follows the plot of the Oscar-winning film Ghost and features a score written by Dave Stewart (one half of the 80s pop duo The Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard (co-writer with Alanis Morissette on the multi-platinum album Jagged Little Pill, among many other notable credits and collaborations). Recently, Brandon Curry, who plays the Subway Ghost, took some time out his busy tour schedule to talk to me about his career, GHOST: THE MUSICAL, and why Houston should be gearing up to see this production. BWW Reviews: Il fantasma del Brancaccio: GHOST arriva a Roma!
by Nino Prattico - Jan 29, 2014

(more...)
