On Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m., Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actress and recording artist Kristin Chenoweth returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with an all-new program entitled The Evolution of a Soprano. Directed by Richard Jay-Alexander and featuring pianist and music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell, this newly created, one-night-only engagement showcases Ms. Chenoweth performing a varied evening of music that highlights her incredible range-from works influenced by her early operatic and classical training in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to hit songs from her starring roles on Broadway and in film. In addition to popular hits and classical selections, Ms. Chenoweth will perform new works, standards, and even works popularized by amateur soprano Florence Foster Jenkins. On February 9, Newnan Theatre Company presented its 2013 Gala, NTC's celebration of its 2013/2014 season opening. Season ticket holders and guests were treated to drinks, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. They participated in a silent auction of an intriguing array of items, profits to benefit the theatre, and they were given an opportunity to renew or purchase season memberships at discount prices. Schlatter, starring Donald Corren (Souvenir, Old Jews Telling Jokes) whom The New York Times calls 'a chameleonic wonder' as part of this summer's New York International Fringe Festival. The new season, the 46th season at the Music Center of Los Angeles, will include Jeff Goldblum in the West Coast premiere of the smart, sexy, new Broadway comedy "Seminar," Rachel York in the beloved 1930s musical romp - Cole Porter's "Anything Goes," the American premiere and pre-Broadway presentation of the dramatic musical "Backbeat" which features classic rock 'n' roll in its story of the birth of the Beatles, Tracie Bennett starring as the iconic Judy Garland in the West Coast premiere of the acclaimed play with music - "End of the Rainbow," and the daring new musical that explores a shocking event in American history - Kander and Ebb's "The Scottsboro Boys."
