The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run September 13 - September 27. Opening night is Sunday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. Single tickets go on sale on Friday, August 8 at noon. (more...)

Playing for the first time at the Guthrie, under the direction of Joe Dowling, My Fair Lady will feature Helen Anker as Eliza Doolittle, Tony Sheldon as Colonel Pickering, Donald Corren as Alfred P. Doolittle - all in their Guthrie debuts - and Jeff McCarthy as Professor Henry Higgins. On Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m., Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actress and recording artist Kristin Chenoweth returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with an all-new program entitled The Evolution of a Soprano. Directed by Richard Jay-Alexander and featuring pianist and music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell, this newly created, one-night-only engagement showcases Ms. Chenoweth performing a varied evening of music that highlights her incredible range-from works influenced by her early operatic and classical training in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to hit songs from her starring roles on Broadway and in film. In addition to popular hits and classical selections, Ms. Chenoweth will perform new works, standards, and even works popularized by amateur soprano Florence Foster Jenkins.
