The off-Broadway theatre company, BEDLAM, which received critical acclaim and multiple award nominations for its recent productions of Saint Joan and Hamlet, and The Seagull and Sense & Sensibility is presenting Shakespeare's classic comedy Twelfth Night in rotating repertory with itself: Twelfth Night (or What You Will) and What You Will (or Twelfth Night). One play, two completely different ways, with the same five actors, at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 W 36th Street, NYC) for 8 weeks only. Now in performances, Twelfth Night opens Saturday, March 28 at 2pm, and What You Will opens Sunday, March 29 at 2pm. (more...)

Playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's HUNTER GATHERERS is an all-you-can-eat buffet of betrayal, sexual awkwardness, blood, red wine, lust-filled passions, and a blurring of the lines between civilization and primal instincts. PLAYHOUSE CREATURES THEATRE has announced that it will present HUNTER GATHERERS, a black comedy about an annual dinner party that blurs the line between civilized and primal man, March 3 - March 28 at the Duo Theatre, 62 East 4th St. 2nd floor. Written by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb and directed by Eric Tucker (Wall Street Journal's 2014 Director of the year), The production will have its official opening on Saturday, March 7th at 8:00PM. Due to popular demand BEDLAM is adding three more performances of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility adapted by Kate Hamill. Sense & Sensibility is currently playing in rep with a production of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull adapted by Anya Reiss now through December 21 at the Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street, NYC). The added performances for Sense & Sensibility are Sunday, December 7 at 2pm, Tuesday, December 16 at 8pm, and Sunday, December 21 at 2pm. Davis McCallum, Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF), has finalized plans for the Company's 29th season with the announcement that Arabian Nights, written by Mary Zimmerman, adapted from The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night, will run in repertory with Shakespeare's Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a limited run of An Illiad, by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare. As the 2014 season draws to an end, Davis McCallum, Artistic Director of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) gave friends and fans something to look forward to when he announced the 2015 season at a special Sneak Peak event on Saturday evening. Noting that the pieces that he has chosen share in the deep belief in the magic of storytelling, McCallum announced that the 2015 productions will be The Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, An Iliad by Lisa Peterson and Dennis O'Hare, and a fourth, soon to be revealed production. 'Each of these pieces aims to transport the audience with the simplest and most powerful of theatrical means - language, wit, movement, commitment, and passion,' he told the assembled crowd. Shakespeare & Company's Dennis Krausnick, a founder and also Director of Training, steps into the title role of Julius Caesar for a brief run beginning July 15 through August 2. Nigel Gore, who has been playing Caesar since it opened several weeks ago, takes a short-term leave from the show after this weekend's performance on Sunday July 13-Gore will be back in the role Saturday, August 9.
