Vintage Theatre Productions announces 10 shows and two special events for the 2022-2023 season. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St. in Aurora. Early bird season tickets are currently on sale.

The Tony Award winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, the current offering from The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is indeed a fascinating piece. I say fascinating because at its entertaining core, it is a show within a show spoofing old musicals. The plot includes mistaken identities, dream sequences, an unexcitable English butler, a Broadway producer going crazy over his Follies production, comical gangsters, a ditzy chorine, a harried best man, and an alcoholic, er, “drowsy”, chaperone amongst other stereotypes. The enjoyable Jordan Hue directed incarnation runs through March 12th at the charming Oakdale, Long Island, venue.

Let Ara Institute of Canterbury’s National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) transport you back to the heady Prohibition days of late 1920s America in this loving send-up of the era’s frivolous musicals. A story within a story, The Drowsy Chaperone pokes fun at the many common tropes of old-fashioned musicals.

Following its sold-out run of Be More Chill in 2019, the Helen Hayes Award-winning Monumental Theatre Company will be producing three musicals for the upcoming 2020 season: Head Over Heels, The Drowsy Chaperone and Songs for a New World.

The very entertaining production at Santa Monica's Morgan-Wixson Theatre through October 13 is directed by Kristie Mattsson, produced by Michael Jackson Heimos, with music direction by Daniel Koh, and choreography by Niko Montelibano.

Closing out its 92nd season, the St. Bart's Players will present The Drowsy Chaperone, the five time Tony- Award winning musical, with a book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison. The show runs November 5th-10th with 7 performances at The John Cullum Theatre (314 W. 54th st), formerly The American Theatre of Actors Inc.

The Drowsy Chaperone, the Tony-award winning Broadway musical, will be presented at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre, running now through October 13 as the first production of the 2019-20 Mainstage season.
