The full cast has been announced for the Broadway engagement of Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman, the critically acclaimed, wildly popular play directed by Sam Mendes that arrives on Broadway this fall.

After 32 markets, over half a million audience members, and 14 months on the road, the national touring company of FUN HOME took its final bow at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, FL on December 3, 2017. Writer Lisa Kron and director Sam Gold joined the company on stage for an emotional curtain call.

Fun Home is a coming-of-age musical about a lesbian and her repressed gay father, who teaches literature, manages the family funeral home and eventually commits suicide. The musical is based on the memoirs of writer/cartoonist Alison Bechdel. Bechdel's 2006 book and was adapted into a musical with book and lyrics by Lisa Kron and music by Jeanine Tesori.

FUN HOME, the Tony Award winning musical based on the graphic novel style memoir by Alison Bechdel initially seems like something that just can't work. The story, framed around her relationship with her father, is about Alison growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, working at the family funeral (fun) home then going off to college, and learning more about her father as she grows up and after he dies rather suddenly. The source material hits every emotion, and the stage production manages to really capture the feel of the book and elevate the emotion in a way that's hard to do just in text. The trouble of adapting a graphic novel too, is that the audience who have read it, already have very specific ideas of how a stage production should look. Great care was evident in the set design and costuming to make sure that the stage show matches the book. Book and lyrics writer Lisa Kron was also very canny to keep the story about the Bechdel family, but hone in on universal themes of growing up, finding independence and starting to see your parents and real people, rather than just as an extension of yourself. This may be the story of one family, but everyone can see a bit of themselves in it too.

Producers Fox Theatricals and Barbara Whitman have announced the casting for the Providence engagement of the first National Tour of FUN HOME, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical. The tour will make its Providence debut at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) November 7 12, 2017.

The national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical FUN HOME has landed in Boston and it's as sharply drawn and richly performed as its highly acclaimed Broadway predecessor. While most Broadway shows pack a powerful punch, FUN HOME accomplishes that by capturing the viewer's heart, whether gently plucking at one's heartstrings or tugging with all its might, and its opening night in Nashville at TPAC's Andrew Jackson Hall offered viewers a bevy of emotion.

Fun Home will always have a special place in my heart. The score and source material are some of the most thoughtful work on the stage in recent years - not to mention the innovation of the Broadway staging. Needless to say, I was curious how well the show would lend itself to tour, perhaps even a bit wary. And yet, with all my expectations, the Fun Home tour indeed made me want to play airplane.

Fun Home relays the story of Alison Bechdel, a cartoonist who wrote a graphic memoir that serves as the basis for the musical. Fun Home explores Bechdel's life and her relationship with her father, a closeted gay man.

Riveting, powerful and beautifully poignant at every step, FUN HOME—the Tony Award-winning musical based on Alison Bechdel's 2006 autobiographical graphic memoir—is one of those rare, great stage musicals that represents an astonishingly unique point-of-view that is somehow miraculously universal and inclusive at the same time. Armed with a moving, deeply personal story that's filled with heartache and heartbreak, yet with still plenty of room to be profoundly heartwarming, the musical's truly excellent national tour production continues performances at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through August 6.

Broadway In Boston announced today that tickets for the upcoming Boston engagement of Fun Home, the groundbreaking and Tony Award-winning Best Musical, will go on sale to the public on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Fun Home will play a limited two week engagement at the Boston Opera House October 17-29, 2017 as part of the 2017-2018 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.

Broadway's Kate Shindle---currently traveling the country playing Allison Bechdel in the first national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical FUN HOME---is not only an accomplished singer, actor and dancer, she is also a published author and an outspoken activist. In 2015, Shindle was also elected president of Actors' Equity Association. But before FUN HOME makes its OC debut August 1 - 6 at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Shindle chatted with BroadwayWorld's Michael L.
