Coronado Playhouse ends its 73rd season with the award-winning, high-energy production of Mamma Mia!, opening Friday, November 8 and playing through Sunday, December 15, 2019. This sunny, funny, sensational story, with a book by Catherine Johnson, is told through the magic of ABBA's timeless music and explosive dance numbers. Music and lyrics are by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, the musical writing team and the 'guy-half' of ABBA, that brought us the hits you know and love, like 'Dancing Queen,' 'Thank You for the Music,' 'Money, Money Money,' 'Take A Chance on Me,' and the title song 'Mamma Mia!'.

AXS TV is proud to serve as the stateside home of the hit singing competition THE X FACTOR: CELEBRITY for the sixth consecutive year, as the series makes its anticipated return with a celebrity spin on Monday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. BroadwayWorld has a first look at opening night of Mamma Mia! the Party at The O2 London, on Thursday 19 September. Executive producer Björn Ulvaeus appeared during the show wearing his original ABBA costume from 1977 and welcomed guests including Mark Gatiss, Noel Fielding, Craig Revel Horwood and Arlene Phillips.

Tupelo Community Theatre's historic 50th season begins with the Broadway favorite Mamma Mia!, written by British playwright Catherine Johnson and  based on the songs of ABBA by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, at the Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo.

THE PARTY, the new immersive theatrical and dining experience opening in a specially adapted venue within The O2 London this summer, with performances beginning on 29 August 2019. Open Auditions will be held on Thursday 2 May 2019. The exciting new immersive theatrical dining experience will begin performances in London from 29 August 2019.

Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for its production of the international megahit Mamma Mia!, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bj rn Ulvaeus, some songs with Stig Anderson, and book by Catherine Johnson. Originally conceived by Judy Craymer, Mamma Mia! is directed by Artistic Director William Osetek and choreographed by Jane Lanier with music direction by Roberta Duchak. Mamma Mia! runs February 7 April 14, 2019, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at 8:00 p.m.

THE PARTY, an immersive theatrical and dining experience launched in Stockholm, will take up residency in a specially-adapted venue within London's The O2. The London production of MAMMA MIA! THE PARTY is set to open late Spring 2019, with tickets going on sale this Autumn.

The Benny Anderson-Tim Rice-Bj rn Ulvaeus musical Chess, which began life as a two-LP recording in 1984, will be presented at 7:30 PM on March 10th, 2018 at the Madison Theatre at Molloy College in Rockville Center, NY.

UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama opens its 2017 18 season with a concert staging of the musical Chess, a complex exploration of strategy and love set at the intersection of US Russia political relations. With music by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bj rn Ulvaeus and lyrics by Tim Rice, Chess premiered in 1986 telling the story of a match between an American Grandmaster (loosely based on the life of Bobby Fischer) and his Soviet rival, and was generally seen as a metaphor for the Cold War politics of the day. This is the first show in a season themed The Business of Politics/The Politics of Business, which takes a look at the shady underbelly of capitalism.

Bis dahin ein Nischensport, stand Schach plotzlich im Rampenlicht der Weltoffentlichkeit - dank des vorherrschenden Kalten Krieges, der dieses Ereignis zum Stellvertreter-Krieg zwischen der USA und der UdSSR machte. Knapp neun Jahre spater setzte der Songwriter und Textdichter Tim Rice seinen Plan in die Tat um, anhand dieses Schachwettkampfes ein Musical zu kreieren, das nach einem uralten Theatertrick die politische mit der sportlichen sowie einer sehr privaten Ebene verband. Herausgekommen ist 1984 das Konzeptalbum „Chess" und 1986 die erste Buhnenfassung am Londoner Westend, inszeniert von Trevor Nunn.
