Martha Graham Dance Company Will Present NEW@Graham with Andrea Miller

The March installment of the Martha Graham Dance Company's popular Studio Series features a work-in-progress showing of choreographer Andrea Miller's new work for the Company. Titled Umbra, the movement vocabulary is inspired by the rhythms, speeds, and surges of nonhuman life. The one-hour showing will include a discussion with Miller and the dancers. Umbra will have its world premiere at New York City Center in April 2020.

The third annual Forum, reinstated in July 2018 in response to field-wide interest, is developed in collaboration with key partners from across the U.S. and designed to be a catalytic opportunity for early career dance presenters.

Kyle Abraham, one of today's most in-demand choreographers who was originally inspired to pursue dance by Prince, brings his company, A.I.M, to Northrop on Sat, Feb 29 with a diverse range of mixed repertory in a copresentation with Walker Art Center. The public evening performance caps a three-day A.I.M residency that includes two student matinees and other events. The matinee experiences are part of a partnership with the Minneapolis Public School District's Cultural Experiences Program.

The world-renowned Martha Graham Dance Company presents the second season of The EVE Projecta?"a program celebrating female empowerment and the centennial of the 19th Amendment this year. The New York City Center season features acclaimed classics from Graham's repertory alongside works by some of today's top choreographers, including a world premiere by Andrea Miller and recent commissions from Pam Tanowitz and Maxine Doyle and Bobbi Jene Smith. Prima ballerina Diana Vishneva will be a guest star at the gala evening dancing Graham's Deep Song. Music for all of the Graham classics will be played live by The Mannes Orchestra.
