Dance/NYC announces the launch of #ArtistsAreNecessaryWorkers, a new online and social media campaign dedicated to the acknowledgement, representation and integration of dance and arts workers into the decision-making processes that will envision the future for New York City post-pandemic.

On May 7 at 7pm ET, Repro Freedom Arts and the National Institute for Reproductive Health will present a virtual program, 'Readings, Resilience, and Reproductive Freedom.'

The March installment of the Martha Graham Dance Company's popular Studio Series features a work-in-progress showing of choreographer Andrea Miller's new work for the Company. Titled Umbra, the movement vocabulary is inspired by the rhythms, speeds, and surges of nonhuman life. The one-hour showing will include a discussion with Miller and the dancers. Umbra will have its world premiere at New York City Center in April 2020.

GALLIM will present Artistic Director and Choreographer Andrea Miller's 2015 work W H A L E at BAM Fisher for five performances this spring. Performances are April 2-5 (Thursday and Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday at 3pm).

Kyle Abraham, one of today's most in-demand choreographers who was originally inspired to pursue dance by Prince, brings his company, A.I.M, to Northrop on Sat, Feb 29 with a diverse range of mixed repertory in a copresentation with Walker Art Center. The public evening performance caps a three-day A.I.M residency that includes two student matinees and other events. The matinee experiences are part of a partnership with the Minneapolis Public School District's Cultural Experiences Program.

The world-renowned Martha Graham Dance Company presents the second season of The EVE Projecta?"a program celebrating female empowerment and the centennial of the 19th Amendment this year. The New York City Center season features acclaimed classics from Graham's repertory alongside works by some of today's top choreographers, including a world premiere by Andrea Miller and recent commissions from Pam Tanowitz and Maxine Doyle and Bobbi Jene Smith. Prima ballerina Diana Vishneva will be a guest star at the gala evening dancing Graham's Deep Song. Music for all of the Graham classics will be played live by The Mannes Orchestra. Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Alicia Graf Mack, announces New Dances: Edition 2019 taking place December 11-15, 2019, in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The first-year dancers are working with alumna and acclaimed choreographer Amy Hall Garner. The second-year class is working with Jamar Roberts, a dancer and resident choreographer at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

While I look forward to observing their world premieres, I am excited beyond words to experience 'Con Brazos Abiertos'' again. It literally deserves to make the best dance performance list of any year.
