Matthew Tennyson made his professional stage debut in Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Other stage credits include Beautiful Thing at The Royal Exchange, Making Noise Quietly at the Donmar Warehouse, Blue Stockings and Puck in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare's Globe.
His television roles include Clarence in The Hollow Crown, Arlo in Da Vinci's Demons and Ottaviano Riario in Borgia.
Tennyson was awarded Best Newcomer at the Manchester Theatre Awards in 2011 for Beautiful Thing and the Milton Shulman Award for Outstanding Newcomer at the Evening Standard Awards in 2012 for Making Noise Quietly.

Rehearsals began today (3 May 2023) for the West End premiere of Martin McDonagh’s Olivier Award-winning The Pillowman. To mark the start of rehearsals, a set of specially commissioned photographs of Lily Allen and Steve Pemberton by acclaimed British photographer Rankin have been released.

The production opens on 28 April, with previews from 25 April, and runs until 28 May, with a livestreamed performance via OT On Screen on 12 May and available to stream on demand from 31 May – 3 June.
The play is directed by actor and director Geraldine Alexander, and is performed by a first-rate cast of Penny Downie, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Matthew Tennyson and Iniki Mariano.
