Playwrights Horizons has extended Will Arbery’s Corsicana, directed by Tony winner Sam Gold, one week, to July 17, due to popular demand. The world premiere production opened Wednesday, June 22.

Playwrights Horizons will present Will Arbery’s Corsicana, directed by Sam Gold, June 2–July 10 (opening June 22) in the Mainstage Theater. In Corsicana, a small city in Texas, a woman with Down syndrome named Ginny and her half-brother Christopher are unmoored in the wake of their mother’s death.

The Lucille Lortel Theatre has announced its new holiday performance series, Tinsel: A Global Holiday Celebration. Running from December 6-31, live performances will be held at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, showcasing effervescent live music, performance, and dance with leading artists from around the globe.  

It was announced today the Parent Artist Advocacy League for Performing Arts and Media will present a virtual concert showcasing the original work of mom-composers/lyricists, brought to life by mom-singers and musicians (and a couple of dads!) from Broadway stages and beyond, to stream on International Mother Artist Day, Monday, August 2 at 7 PM.

PS CLASSICS has announced the release of All the Girls – the new album from Rebecca Luker and Sally Wilfert – on CD online and in stores today, Friday, March 5. It was released in digital and streaming formats in December. The album marks the final recording by Ms. Luker, a Broadway luminary for over 30 years, who passed away late last year.

Bright stars of Broadway perform a rockin' evening of musical theater by the women who make the music in this industry. Maestra is an organization founded by Georgia Stitt that exists to give support, visibility, and community to female composers, music directors, orchestrators, arrangers, copyists, music coordinators, and musicians who are an underrepresented minority in musical theater. It's time for them to be heard.

Broadway's next generation comes to LA in A Little New Music's 20th concert of new musical theatre songs in The Sorting Room's 2019 Summer Series at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on June 26th at 7:00 pm. Kathy Deitch (B'way WICKED, FOOTLOOSE) will host. Multiple LA Ovation Award-winning composer Gregory Nabours (THE TROUBLE WITH WORDS, MARILYN! Bonnie Comley, Founder of BroadwayHD, was the guest speaker at MAESTRA's May seminar at SongSpace. Composer/lyricist and music director Georgia Stitt founded the MAESTRA organization in 2017 to give support, visibility, and community to the women who make the music in the musical theater industry. The MAESTRA membership is made up of female-identifying, non-binary, and gender non-conforming composers, music directors, orchestrators, arrangers, copyists, rehearsal pianists and other musicians who are underrepresented minorities in musical theater. Songwriter and composer, Kathy Sommer, moderated the seminar.
